Starting day 4 and unsure!

Going onto day 4 now, yey. I' have tried to quit cold turkey before and failed, however i am now using patches and gum, I hope this works but i am unsure if they are going to prolong my nicotine addiction when I finally get off these patches in 4 weeks time, and that I will have the same urge to have a cigarette as before. I just don't want to waste all of the effort I have put in so far. I need and want to quit. I can, but I am unsure wether I can handle any intense cravings if they do occur. Hope some one out there can help me with this query.

Thanks

James.

Hi James :D

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

Well done on day 4 lots of people on here use Patches and Gum whatever helps is good and am sure you will be able to handle the cravings especailly if you take note of the above

Good Luck

Marg

Well done james in reaching day 4. i used the patches for the full 12 weeks program. When i came off the patches there was still cravings but not as intense as when you first quit and they were easy to handle so i dont think you will have a problem. i dont think i could do it ct so thats why i picked patches and they worked for me. i am now at 15 weeks and still going strong. so keep with it james and iam sure you will be fine. janet xxxxx
