my guard is still very much up... and always will be now... I gave up for 7 years and know that it only takes ONE drag to start again, so I wont make that mistake.

if anything though, the thought of smoking is turning my stomache...I cant imagine wanting to do it again... partly because of the effort thats gone into fighting the cravings, it was SO damn hard in the few 2.5 weeks... plus, I dont know if any of you guys feel it but there is a sense of feeling liberated from something that totally dragged me down.

Well done Vicki!

You have done really well - especially giving up just BEFORE Christmas! That is an achievement in itself.

I really believe you will never smoke again - well done and keep posting on here to give us some inspiration!

Hi... into my sixth week... still going strong.... not been around much becase I'm already starting to forget that I'm giving up... the fags no longer have a place in my life :D

I'm classing myself as a non-somker now.... I will never let one pass my lips again!!

Out of curiosity does anyone know what happened to Bloke... he was having a bad time last week-haven't seen him on here since!!

Well done Vicki - I'm looking forward to getting to 1 month - feeling good but like you I started smoking again but after 10 years! I now realise there is no such thing as one puff or social smoking and will always have to be on my guard.

you and me both Biddy... I gave up for 7 years, one drag ( as a joke about a guy who smoked like a girl !!) was all it took so NEVER again... I hadn't even intended on having a cigarette, but the second I got the rush I was right back into the whole smoking thing... there really isn't such a thing as just one!!

I'm not sure how long its been since you quit but just keep going, you are doing great, and defo sound like your very committed to staying quit, just like me :D

6 weeks! Go on girl!

About Bloke... no idea I'm afraid, last logged in on the 14th... hope he's alright. Maybe he's still eating breakfast? :p

Wow... I just had my first niggly little cravings in about a week... One when I was looking at a photo of Lilly Allen smoking a fag, and just now when I logged onto the net... I always smoked a fag when I sat down at the computer, its more of a ritual craving than actually wanting one...

Still haven't caved though:D

nsd_user663_3856 profile image
nsd_user663_3856

thanks Jim...I kinda worked out the reason why, and luckily the craving isn't strong enough to act on it!!

I have finally got my diet back to what it was before I quite smoking, its all moving in the right direction...the thing is, I know these little craving are gonna continue to bite me on the arse periodically but my resolve and motivation to never smoke again is as strong as ever... not even a drag!!!

Forgot to ask .. how's your 'broken arse' doing ??

oh my arse is still very sore.... if I walk up a hill or stairs it really hurts... also if I move quickly or push doors open it hurts... actually sitting on it isn't a problem, but getting up and sitting down is pretty bad... gonna see my GP tomorrow to get some more pain killers and hopefully a referral to physio... I have done it twice before, while giving birth to my kids. I think it must be very weak from that.

thanks for ars....king, see what I did there :)

I did indeed see what you did there ;)

Have you considered a - what're they called, the bone-manipulators ... a chiropractor ? ... I've used them several times before, can heartily recommend it - mind you, not sure how much use they'd be with a broken bone .. maybe worth a phone call and asking ?

Can give you a phone number of my local place if you like - PM me - can't imagine it being allowed by the mods on here to post a phone number - I see you're in London, so my local place is obviously not an option, but at least you'll get some impartial free advice.

One other thing - when I cracked a rib a couple of months ago, the only meds I was advised to take were painkillers - and the problem with that is they always have to be taken on a NOT empty stomach - and I eat once a day so that's always a problem for me - .. well, this is probably the best bit of advice I've ever had - the nurses at my NHS support group for stopping smoking - they told me - a glass of milk counts as a meal in terms of not taking a pill on an empty stomach!

Take care, don't envy you your situation...

Jim

xyeah, its not much fun at the moment :(

When I had my son I had physio... they did Ultrasound treatment on it too... this helped massively. Admittedly the last time I did it it wasn't so badly affected by mobilising... this time its the main feature. last time I just couldn't sit on it, and it was the same with my daughter. My daughter is now nearly 14, so I can't remember what it was like then, and my son it nearly 12.

I have worked in healthcare for years... even in fracture clinics, so I might see if I can sweet talk them into experditing my treatment... I really can't afford to go private :(

I am at 50 days smoke free now... still craving, but still haven't caved... still feel so much better for not smoking... can even walk over the steep footbridge near my house without reducing my pace now.... I'm so glad I gave up!! :D

hey Folks... Just thought I would check in and let you know I am still very much on the wagon... no hicups or overwhelming temptation, plodding along nicely now without the fags.... Nearly at the 2 month mark.

not been posting much because been crazy busy with the snow and 2 kids who's schools were closed for most of the week... Plus-the less I post the less I think about NOT smoking...

Hope your all doing well?! and Jim, I hope your bump in the road is still history???
