Hi everyone,

new to this....and having one of those awful panics where I feel like I need to wake people up and ring people, but I am polite and wont, so I came here instead.

I stopped this afternoon, smoked ten fags today and quit at about 14:15, strange way of doing it but I felt I needed a goodbye. I got through the first hour easy, then stuck on one of my boyfriends nicotine patches, which I usually hate as they itch and burn me.

Determined not to give in and have kept myself busy. Saw that someone mentioned using a straw which I actually have in my mouth right now while I type but I am suddenly feeling like I want to burst into tears. feel a bit silly as there isnt anything to cry about.

anyway, rant over and hello to people and goodluck to people as well!

Hi and welcome,

Don't give in the 1st few days are the worst but after that endurance it gets much better very quickly.

Read and educate yourself about nicotine addiction (links in my sig) but most of all don't smoke!

Post often

All the best

Nic

Hi Kirsty,

I am new at this aswell, but I have gotten trough the worst (I'm at day 12). I know the feelings and you need to know it will go over. It's a promis. Also, if you feel like crying, cry! It is a good way of releasing stress!

I found it helpfull to read trough other peoples experiances when I was in trouble! Read, read, read, that is what I have learned here!

And good luck! I wish you all the best! It is such a wonderfull thing being a nosmoker!!!!!

Thanks all for your replies, its starting to ease off a little for now, I was frantic at one point, but I am actually chewing this straw now, seems a bit soothing for the moment.

I am imdulging in some stopping smoking reading now which I have avoided for most of the day in an attempt not to draw attention to fags, it didnt work and the reading is making me feel heaps better.:)

Hi Kirsty this is now day 1 for me.I had my last fag a couple of hours ago and have just attempted to go to bed but cant sleep as expected.I have tried to quit 3 other times and know how you feel but it does get easier after a few days.My problem is usually at the 9th or 10th day which i am determined to fly through this time.My great incentive this time is that i have set up a savings account which all my fag money will now go into. But stick to it you have made one of the best decisions you will ever make.

Good luck.

Steve
