Hi to everyone due to quit tomorrow - "No Smoking Day"
I took a sheet of paper which l marked out hourly, from the time when l got up, until the time that l went to bed, and l crossed off each hour that l was smokeless. It gives you a sense of achievement every time that you cross off another hour, and also an hour, is not that long to wait until you can cross off the next hour.
This may seem a trivial thing to do, but, as a very heavy smoker, it helped me enormously in the first few days when l constantly thought of cigarettes.
My husband also helped, (he used to get up first,) when l got up, he would have written down how many hours that l had been smokefree for.
By coming on here, you will get plenty of support, and be able to give your fellow quitters, support in return.

I do a similar thing only on a daily basis. I have a chart that each night I tick off the day! It's getting really quite long already, and 2 days ago I forgot to cross the day off. I was thrilled because it meant I'm not focussing on cigs all the time anymore.

That's great Dale When you start to forget things like that, you know that you are on the right track and that the EVIL ONE, is not your no 1 priority. That's how l came to be only taking my Champix for a short time - l simply forgot to take them LOL. :D
I also did the chart thing but on a daily basis. I got a free quit kit from the chemist and it had one in which you can tick off and put fun stickers on it. It was really quite exciting! Simple things and that lol. Well yesterday i thought i was on day 15, but i think i am on day 17 according to the dates. I have confused myself totally and never know if i have ticked a day off or not. I was 2 wks on thursday. I have put this confusion down to the fact that i am just a dummy and forgetful but it is true i am not thinking about smoking all the time. How long though does it take to forget for an entire day!
it also helps to find a hobby. I have started gardening. The money i save on ciggies now goes on a plant a day and seeds and stuff. I do not know what i am doing but it is fun learning and keeps me active and focused on something. I work in the evenings so it fill my day. The fresh air is great you notice a huge difference when you breath it in and i have planted a little lavender plant by my front door which i can smell now when i pass it whilst my hubby cant smell it at all coz he still smokes. I can also smell my hubby lol. He is not taking the hint when i follow him around the house with air freshener!!
