how are you all doing I am starting to feel every bit of 85 now its hard to bread I think I might Just have a smoke
good evening all: how are you all doing I am... - No Smoking Day
good evening all
Hi Jimbo
I'm doing fine, thanks for asking!
Just one thing DON'T SMOKE it won't help, it will make your lung age even worse and you'll only end up feeling dreadful about it.
Stay strong and hang in there.
Best wishes
Nic
I am sure your lungs feel crap, but most of that is the problem you already had. Which was made much, much worse by smoking (if it wasn't entirely caused by smoking! I don't know why your lung age is 85, it might or might not be entirely caused by smoking)
So, a smoke to make you feel better, eh?
I know this sounds harsh, but ....
Are you stupid?
Your lungs WILL start to recover provided you don't smoke - they will. Even if they never get back to 100% they will improve.
They won't if you smoke.
Things will get easier too, so you get free of smoking. You won't if you smoke.
Hang in there, read some of the great info.... and above all... don't smoke!
Listen Jimbo - my mum was diagnosed with COPD and has had asthma since birth. She has never smoked but my gran and grandad did. Whether this contributed to her asthma we cannot say for definite.
Anyway, she had a bad chest infection and the GP did tests and said she had the lungs of an 80 something year old at the time. She is 58. Anyway, weeks later when she was better, they said her lung age was back to match her actual age.
Although it isn't quite the same, your body has amazing powers to heal itself and cells do rejuvenate themselves. Instead of focusing on what was, why not look forward to seeing how 'old' you lungs are after a year of not smoking and giving them a chance at least?
GPs don't know everything
Good luck xxxx
Hi Jim
Wise words from all above, you should really listen to what they are saying hun. Please please dont smoke hun that is not going to make you feel any better but probably worst.
Hang in there..they will heal in time but they certainly wont heal if you light up a ciggy.
Stay strong Jim, you know you can do it.
Denise
xx
dont do it Jim... after you give up the mucus moves up and out of your lungs and throat... could this be why you feel bad??
keep going with your quit... your lungs will thank you for it... and you would feel like crap emotionally if you had one now.
Hugs,
Vicki
