It's time to read and re-affirm!

Have a look at woofmang.com and read the "tales". Kevin is a superb writer and if something on there doesn't make you stronger today I would be surprised.

I'm not going to suggest that anything will stop your craves altogether, but just remember that they will go away whether or not you smoke. They will, I promise.

The only difference is, that if you smoke now - you either have to do this again, or smoke forever.

Choosing not to smoke now means the next crave will be weaker - and they will carry on getting weaker.

Don't try and avoid the cravings, try to accept them as nothing more than feelings. You will not feed the addiction, and they may as well go away. Do this over and over if needed - and out loud if necessary. You WILL NOT smoke today!

If you can, take a walk - that can really help take your mind off things and give you a new perspective.

Stay strong, and keep going... you CAN do this :D

Well 1st thing is to say congrats for making it to day 2!!!

Today, you need to try to distract yourself when you are craving, and remember whatever happens that the situation will be no different if you smoke.

You need to focus on getting through today, hour by hour or even minute by minute, but hang on in there it will all be worth it.

All the best

Nic

Good for you

What method are you using? if you are going cold turkey then all the nicotine will be gone from your body by tommorow and you just have the habit to overcome, if not then tommorow is still a great milestone so read read read and keep posting.

Thanks again everyone, I have managed to ride the storm and am prepared for the next one....

I am quitting cold turkey, the only aid I have is just looking at my children as they are the main reason for me quitting!!

Hi Traceeeee (how many "e"s??)

Welcome to the forum. You will find it a great help and there is lots of good advice.

There is no better reason to quit than your children. Hard as it may be, it will be worth it in the end! If nothing else, think about all those little extras you can provide now you don't smoke.

Keep it up - it will be hard but you can do it!!

Hi

I understand that leaving smoking is not that easy. Its a step by step process of getting rid of habit. There are many drivers involved in it. One of them is really a good start for the day. Inculcating positive thoughts at start of the day can brighten your time and encourage your spirit to leave cigar. I just got hold of something new for you guys.

Checkout

This are innovative clocks, that shows new quotes everyday so that you can see life in bright light even in dark times. Have a smoke free time.

Morning Kelmar,

I posted a reply on day 1 to you but not sure if you've seen so before rushing off to work I've cut and paste here.

"Welcome to the forum kelmar. Hope tomorrow is a bit better for you.

You've probably learnt a pretty good lesson when you smoked the rollie - it didn't solve anything and actually made you feel cr@p. Read, read, read the websites that both Nic and Tony have suggested and get an insight what is actually happening to you whilst you give up the weed.

Keep busy, sip water, exercise, come on the forum, write out shopping lists, get the house cleaned up for Xmas - the list is endless but the main thing is keep yourself busy and distract yourself.

You WILL get through this and be a lot happier soon. Oh yeah, and rant on this forum if that's what gets you through"

Best wishes,

Cavalier

Post away, it helps!!

Hang on in there the 1st week can be a bit of an endurance, but remember how tough it is so you don't go back and repeat it!

Hold your horses!!

There will not be a good time to quit, ever, you have already endured one of the worst days why not struggle on through and get the worst over with, rather than repeating it at a later date.

Breath deep, and be strong. You can do it, really you can and it gets much better quite soon, I promise.

Keep posting, distract yourself.

i'm sorry that you are having a bad time at the moment. But you have gone through so much already and very soon the nicotene will be out of your system and it'll get so much better and easier.

As Nic says no time will be better than just now. Try to keep soldiering on and get past the issues one at a time. Think about how you are getting past each hour and be proud of that instead of thinking about the future. Focus upon the present.

Read those stupid comments that I posted in Nic's Friday Jokes thread. Maybe some of them will make you giggle a bit. Other than that being angry is not necessarily a bad thing...be angry at the stupid nicotene that is doing this to you and the hold it has on you.

You will soon be free from its clutches.

Keep posting :)

For sure it definitelty gets sooo much better...even better than when we were hooked.

My first few days were really horrible too...but I knew that I didn't want to ever go through that anymore and so knowing it would only last 3 days I just kept on going. What was a couple of days feeling rubbish compared to the rest of my life free from nicotene's control.

If we see you type in capital letters we'll know that you are shouting :D

Yes it really gets better or we'd all be at each others throats on here and we aren't, well not often :D:D

Really we do understand, and yes it gets easier in a few days you will be looking back on this and saying I'm so glad I didn't give up, or you'll be looking back on it and thinking what a waste, I could have been .....days into my quit by now if I'd only had the courage and belief that I could do it.

Believe in yourself,

As Tony says, Keep the faith!

Best wishes

Kelmar,

Well the main thing is that you gave it a go - well done you. You are aware of the issues and I'm sure you will give this another go.

Don't worry about us - there is no way you have let anybody down.

Please feel better about yourself very soon 'cos that's the main thing...and don't let the stress get the better of you.

Best wishes and we'll see you another time and willingly provide support to you if you need it.

Cavalier :)

You haven't let us down, $hit happens! Pick yourself up and dust yourself down.

The reason you failed was that you were not mentally prepared. Please take some time to read through those websites and although I'm not a great fan Allen Carr's book "The Easyway to Quit Smoking" has proven to be a fantastic help to many people.

Next time you will succeed, but you need to get your head in the right place.

We'll be here waiting for you when you're ready.

Best wishes
