Welcome to the forums. Our lovely Marg (Penthouse Resident) will be along before long to give the official welcome. She has lots of good links in her signature.
They are all a great bunch on here. There is always someone to give advice and encouragement.
Didn't give up with patches myself so can't offer any specific advice but will say to read read read. It helps to prepare and keeps you distracted especially in the first few days.
Try whyquit and woofmang, really good advice and also trawl this site as it has a series of threads on the side effects of quitting.
Welcome and very well done on your quit day two is fab. The first few days can be hard but things do improve very fast. Just take baby steps and take it day by day hour by hour if need be at the start. Post and rant all you like there are fab people here with great adive. Some have links in there post try and read all you can.xxxxx
Hi Hel, welcome and very well done to get to day two.
The first thing I learned coming on here and reading things is I'm an addict and I think when you can accept this then it will become easier. I can only reflect what the others are saying read the links on other posts and you will learn. Also it helps you to know what you are likely to go through as others on here have gone through before us.
I have given up smoking for 7 weeks with patches and I have found they have helped me. My smoking nurse says she wants to put me on the smaller dose next week when I see her. Must admit I didn't think I would last this long not smoking so the patches must be doing something!!.
As for the dreams, I have only had one funny dream.
Read and post messages on this site as it's a brill thing to be on. You get loads of support, help and laughs.
Sorry to be a bit later than tinls expected but a minor emergency kept me busy
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
Thank you all so much for your supportive responses - I am amazed by how much effort you have all made to support each other.
I am on day 3 now and it seems to be a little easier than yesterday anyway.
I went to see my give up smoking advisor last night and my carbon monoxide reading has gone down from 38 (heavy smoker) to 2 (non smoker). I was amazed that happened so quickly!
Well done to you all too and keep up your amazing work.
