Hi Timothy welcome back.

Sorry that you didn't manage to stay off the old death sticks.

Good move getting Champix, there are plenty of people here having great success with it.

Hopefully, it'll give you sufficient breathing space to take control of the addiction. You'll have to change your attitude to smoking, quitting is not a sacrifice, and you are not missing out on something. If your mates egg you on to have smoke tell them you don't smoke any more and mean it!

Let us know when the quit date it.

Best wishes,

Nic

Hi Timothy...

good to know you've not quit quitting;)

champix is a wonder drug for most of us who've taken it - there are some side effects for some people but they seem to be manageable...and if it gets you through the first few months definitely worth a little aggro:cool:

loads of luck, you can do it this time...I did, and I've tried to quit more times than most people have had hot dinners!!!

if you need any help with the champix, shout there's lots of us on this forum who've used it...

good luck...:D

I also applaud your choice of method. The tablets really did make the first few weeks of my quit so much easier than any of my previous attempts.

However, Champix will only do what they are designed to do - give you a headstart and help you get away from Nicotine.

The only way to be successful long term is to not want to smoke.. that's the hard bit and only comes through changing your mindset from smoker to non-smoker.

Some things I would suggest to help with your quit...

1) Read everything and anything you can find on the subject. Education is everything!

2) Find a way to distract yourself, I found going for a walk to be a massive help.

3) Chew gum/Suck sugar free sweets - also a big help to a lot of people.

4) USE THIS FORUM, and the great people on it.

3) Chew gum/Suck sugar free sweets - also a big help to a lot of people.

If you can find where to buy suger free sweets please let me know as all I can find is werthers and they are OK but sickly.

Champix is great and it really helped me get past the first 3 wks and I am still here 7 wks after stopping smoking so must have given me a good head start.

If you need to vent or rant this is a great place as there is generally someone about to listen

There are loads of sugar free mints around these days, and if you don't like mints - try Diabetic boiled sweets, but you may have to head for a health food shop.

Not what you're looking for?
