Smoked 3 packs for years, then cut down to 2 packs. Over the last year somehow I managed to cut down to 1. I am now taking Champix (3rdweek), quit for 3 days, but somehow back to smoking. Fortunately only half a pack, help.
I am sure my lungs will someday love me.

Get rid of the rest of the fags and start again, it's just a 'glitch'. JUst tell yourself you are gonna survive today without, then tomorrow is another day. Once you get through the first few days they seem to go by a bit quicker, although it does seem like years since I last had a fag. Maybe that's a good thing?
Stay strong, visit here for support, we know what you are going through!!
I found it useful to start my quit towards the beginning of the week. Timing your quit could prove useful, the theory is to avoid the 72 hour and 7 day milestones falling on a weekend.
I smoked my last cigarette at 8.45 am on a Tuesday morning which meant I had the first three days (72 hour milestone) before the first weekend and I was beyond the 7th day milestone by the second weekend.
I also planned lots of activities to keep me busy for those first two weekends as a non-smoker. I don't know why we worry so about weekends, I think it may be because we tend to have more time to become bored and that's when we are at our weakest.
One thing which might help is the idea that Champix is just an aid - it'll help you do the job but it won't do the job for you I struggled with that because I waited all my life for the magic pill - it never came so I made do with the best aid yet (as far as I'm concerned). So, follow the excellent advice from friends who know and look to the future!
You can do this, you just need to believe it Best of luck.
Sorry boudee, you are way too self righteous for me. Do you really think i was picking on them?? UNBELIEVABLE!!
Who are you to say how each of us feel and react to a little humour.
I for one enjoy a joke at any time! We are all doing something positive here and moping around is not an option...............................for me anyway.
wasn't going to drop in here, thought this would just fizzle out but just to provide a little balance got to say: IMO there're times when humour is not the best medicine! When someone's asking for help and is clearly distressed, might be better to hold on the funny comments and offer something which could help or offer nothing at all. That's my img65.imageshack.us/img65/8...
you seem to follow Mr trying around quite a lot  maybe you would be so kind as to let him make fun out of you when you are feeling vulnerable and then other people won't have to tolerate it
What?, "you seem to follow Mr trying ", what you saying i have posted on some of the same threads as him, and i cannot have an opinion that differs from your?
Anyway decision is that i'll leave this forum and work on the quitting myself. I will however pop back from time to time to see what's going on
to the rest of you i have met on my short stay and enjoyed their comments and shared experiences.....good luck and will be sorry not to be part of your success.........I will also succeed!!!!!
Garystrying, I don't think there is any need to leave the forum.
Does anyone else think that nicotine (or lack of it!) is working it's evil magic and making everyone a bit tetchy today?
I can see where both sides are coming from but that doesn't matter. Remember what you are on this forum for - to give each other support, not to start bickering with each other. Relax guys!
gary, that's a bit extreme isn't it? we're all entitled to an opinion and to voice it. Why not just let it drop there and get back to the tough job we're all involve in.
I'd be sorry if you dropped out of the forum - but if you do, good luck with your quit anyway.

One thing you may need to remember is that Champix still requires Will power.
Keep on brushing yourself down and starting again x x x x
Put more of a plan into it,
What things can you do instead? puzzles, reading walking, drinking water etc.
Plan rewards based on money saved and aim for these goals.
Keep in touch here and hold onto the support you can get.
i believe a bit of humour doesn't hurt - lighten up, you never know it may help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im with you Mr String lol
OMG i have just read the rest of the threads and cant believe how out of hand this has got!!!!!!! Get over yourselves! i notice bakon didnt reply and i think he/sheis the one whos opinion really count - !!
this might not be that helpful at this point
this quote is all boudee said. and i think she was right in doing so. if someone new comes in its not realy the way to welcome them is by mocking them. we have had some mocking spellings in the past but its not about how clever or cool you are in here. It IS about helping each other not to smoke. usualy a bit of praise encouragement and sympathy are all thats needed. especialy to someone new or just starting this journey,....... more T.L.C. please. xxx
People have different way of receiving support with their quit attempts. Some like it with a joke, a positive comment while others just want a silence nod. We would be grateful if forum members can refrain from making personal comments about other forum members because we will delete your thread!
This forum is there for all smokers and all quit attempts. Please respect each other's opinions.
why have you pulled one of my posts saying good bye with a waving hand but yet you have left a post on another thread saying to go f**k your selves to me and Buff  you have to be very vigilant to be a good mod
you just cant help yourself can u "you have to be very vigilant to be a good mod"
Good weekend to all week 3ers (and all the others!)
Hope you all have a good weekend. By Tuesday we'll be moving onto week four. We're all doing really really well :D. FANTASTICALLY WELL!
I haven't been around today to witness the storm  Erm... I'll say that again: .
Let's chill. Chill, chill, chill. Maybe it's cause I'm in Spain, and things are more relaxed here in a way, but...
Does it always have to be like that? Wherever and whoever? If a group of people get together, they all start bickering and having ridiculous and unenlightened conversations? I know I have a problem with people (the reason why I went self-employed is so that I didn't have to deal with as many :-)), but guys, this is an Internet forum where nobody knows each other. All we have in common is that we are trying to quit smoking. That's it. And because we know what we are going through, we can give each other good, well-meaning, sometimes more and sometimes less humourful support.
Don't let your emotions get mixed up in here! Leave those for your family and friends (I'm sure we have all been biting enough heads off recently!).
prob should be on the joke thread, but the emotionl thing reminded me of it,...................................................................................................... Why are all men like mascara ? ........................they both run when we get emotional, BOON BOOM. HAW HAW !
