Hiya I'm on day 8 and my method was cold turkey too. There was a lot of lows during the first week, but also a few high's. Now it's been high for the past two days. At least now the nicotine is well out of our bodies eh? Now it's all mental, no more nicotine playing around with us. Cravings will mostly be gone in three weeks, so not long now
thank you for the welcome, didn't expect such a quick response, i 2 live in sunny devon, (plymouth) can u tell me how long does withdrawal feeling last? u might frown but have also quit smoking pot as well about 2weeks ago, but the nicotine is the hardest to quit. i'm finding it hard but can't wait to break free 4 good. thank u for lisening jue
Congrats on your quit pot as well as smokes. All I can tell you is things get much better after the first week. Keep coming on here you will have great support and just take it day by day even hourly when need be Lots of Luck Linda xxx
Hello and congrats on your decision to quit smoking EVERYTHING!!! You are doing a wonderful job
I too quit cold turkey on August 13th at 12:00pm my time, which would be 5:00pm your time
Sometimes I have bad days and I make sure to come on here and rant...people really care here and will always be around to help you out. I love this forum, it is what makes me stay strong.
You may feel that it doesn't get easier at the beginning, but it really is getting easier...you just feel like its not when you are on a low moment. Remember that cravings only last maximum 5 minutes, so keep yourself busy and make sure you don't have any cigs near you when a craving hits. The nicotine will be out of your body on your third day
You can do this - keep your chin up and take it day by day or hur by hour.
Hi tucksie, welcome and congrats on your decision! I do believe the hardest part of it all is actually making that decision
I too quit cold turkey 3 weeks ago and am feeling great - no withdrawal symptoms anymore, no depression, but the first days were definitely harder I was strongly motivated and still I happened to cry a few times just out of sheer frustration and insecurity. Besides, I didn't feel like myself anymore, I'd feel instead like I was being forced to give up my entire my personality or something, like I was ill - odd, but you probably know what I mean. The good thing is, that kind of hell and emotional turmoil only lasts the first few days Seriously, things improved quite fast after the first week, so hang in there! You are strong
just like to say what a fab place this is, the support here is great, went outto the pub for the first time tonight with out the cigs, it was ok surprisingly! have to admit the urge was still there! but the smoking banned helped, and the people that had been out did smell like ash trays when they came in lol which i hadn't notice before, not knocking them cause i was smelling like them last week! felt good this evening and pround to say i'm a non smoker, i know i have a long way to go, trying real hard thanks tucksie xx
EXCELLENT!!! You will start to notice many benefits to being a non-smoker Stay strong and don't let your guard down. When days get rough come on here and type away
You're doing so well. I'm on day 24 of cold turkey - I admit at times has been hard - but once you get through another day it's like Wow I did it without a smoke!! Now I don't think about ciggies that much which is so brilliant because before you almost have to plan your day around smoking when you are able to have the next one etc.
Hope you're saving your ciggie money so you can have a wild splurge!!
After all, there is nothing that goes quicker to a girls heart than some retail therapy!!!
well 7th day is nearly over, spent the day walking 6 miles in the glorious devon country side with my husband jamie, who by the still smokes but has cut down, hes finding it hard to cut out altogether but i'm suportting him, although i had a moment in the car as he lite up i paniced as couldn't get away and ended up in tears, i felt so silly! to react like that, has anyone else felt that. jamie did put it out as soon as he relised what it had done and felt really bad, bless him he is supporting me like not smoking in the house, got questions for anyone, like my souls of my feet are very dry? and hands, my mouth goes numb and my tongue gets sore? has anyone else experience this, i notice when walking to day my nose keep running whats all that about, my sense of smell seems to be better, lol i can smell a smoker a mile away or thats how it seems. waffled on a bit sorry keep strong everyone. xxx
Glad you enjoyed your day with hubby. I too have cried lol. I use to get very angry at my hubby for smoking! My emotions were all over the place and still are at times. Much better though. I asked my hubby to get me a drink of gingerale on my 2nd day and he announced to me that we had none...WELL - I bawled my eyes out. It was terrible.
I think while walking your nose is running because your body is forcing all of the yucky gunky stuff out of your system.
Aren't we terrible?????!!!! I do the exact same thing  My hubby is supportive as well and I can get nasty
Well they say we take our anger (all feelings) out on the ones we love the most...so lucky for them - WE LOVE THEM!!! I think it's also because we know they will be there for us even in the worst of times, so we take advantage of that
