Hi everyone, after having been a smoker for 24 years my lungs are beginning to tell me that they have had enough of being clogged up by the filth from ciggies. I have given up several times before but always found an excuse in the past to start back on the weed. Recently turned 40 though  which really made me think about a determined effort to give up. [I want to live way beyond 60, not die of a smoking related illness]
This time I'm determined. Day 4 of being smoke-free now! I'm hoping that with the help and support of existing forum-users I will succeed this time. I must have been on an average of 30 a day but was living in constant fear as to whether I was doing [or have done] any permanent damage:confused:
I will keep you posted!

Hi Buffy and Boudee, it's nice to meet some fellow "quitters" It can feel a bit lonely at times, especially if a weak moment rears it's head, I hope you don't mind turning to you guys for support if it does! So far so good, chest improving day by day, but bcos of the length of time I've been smoking it prob won't happen overnight. Thanks for the welcome buddies!
Thanks again! From tomorrow I'll start posting in the days/weeks/months section etc. Trying to take one day at a time. Yes, it seems very daft for someone to move to an island that has such clean air [no pollution here] and still to carry on smoking [even if it DOES cost next to nothing to slowly kill oneself!] Defeats the object a bit! Hubby and I previously lived in Devon.
I'm so glad I found this forum! When you stop and think about it, it could be a "lifesaver" to many of us here.
