Man suck lozenge and chew nico gum etc so be it !! it has so little effect it is irrelavent!

The not smoking cigs is the achievement and this is what you should applause!

You haven't smoked end of story to us. You're possibly feeling that you've compromised your spotlessly clean record, but I'm sure in week from now you'll have forgotten all about it.

I'd imagine that lozenge must have been revolting enough anyway that you won't do that again on a bad day??

You will however have to plan what you'll do to get over your next bad day. I find a double egg and bacon french baguette with brown sauce from the local cafe works way better than any slimy foul tasting lozenge.

Keep it up and well done for still not smoking

Dicky

Hey Dickie, you're right it tasted foul...not sure I could manage the bacon and egg buttie at the mo, but yummy food sounds good;)

mae you are doing so well and Im sorry you feel as though you have let yourself for having a lozenge, coz I think youre fantastic for coming off nrt so soon!

I smoked on sat and let myself down so I understand that self disgust, stressed out feeling you may of been having, but you didnt smoke and thats the main thing. ;)

As long as you can quit as comfortably as you can, dont worry about it lass, it wasnt the end of the world. :D

You rock!

Stay strong, charlene :)

Hi maeagain

dont feel like you have cheated you had a lozenge thats not the same as a ciggy SO you are still a non smoker be proud of your acheivement and keep going, cold turkey would be impossible for me to do so, any thing that helps me not to smoke is fine by me, so dont feel guilty the main aim is not smoking and you are not smoking

Mae, dont beat yourself up, you have no smoked, the losenge just helped even if foul, better that than ciggie. Stay strong, we are here. Its Friday, partying time all round.

You're all right about the lozenges, they taste foul but they do help when stressed. I suppose I was down because I had done my whole quit nic free, I had also given my other half a hard time about nic gum. He quit some time ago but stayed addicted to the gum, some months after quitting. He's gone onto regular chewing gum now and I was trying to support him too. There's only so much any of us can do at once. Good news is I'm not smoking or really craving and I have not gained any weight either :)

I wish I knew the 'secret'....I have made a really consious effort not to comfort eat, had sugar free gum, drank lots of tea and eaten lots of fruit. apart from that I don't know. I honestly don't think it matters for most people if they gain a little. it's different for me as I'm diabetic and heavily overweight to start with, that 100lbs we talk about in terms of the smoking weight gain ratio I already carry!:o I just can't gain any more for my health and i'm actually losing it. I have already 5 stone believe it or not....yes I was really big...and yes I am ashamed of it, but I'm doing something:D

Well done Mae!!

By not smoking with diabetes you are cutting down your heart risks and strokes, immensley! smoking doubles the rate of heart disease and strokes with dibetes!

And 5 stone down!!

Ashamed? are you bloody mad?! you should be well bloody proud of yourself for these life changing things, you have done for yourself!! Not ashamed!

Well Done Mae x x x x you must feel like a new person !
