Osteoporosis treatment for postTransplant

I’m one year out from Transplant. I have osteoporosis now and doctor really pushing me to start treatment. She wants me on Prolia. There are warnings on there about being immunosuppressed and at risk for developing serious infections. My doctor just said I still think it’s the safest choice for you. Reclast is supposedly worse for kidney. Are any of you taking Prolia and if so what is your experience?

I have CKD and refused Prolia because of the same warnings. I have been taking Fosamax instead.

Can't take Fosamax, caused stomach issues. Maybe by IV?

I take Ibandronate for osteoporosis which is the equivalent (I believe) of Boniva. My doctors say is the least likely to cause any problems with CKD. It has actually improved my bone loss. I have a Dexa at the end of the month and hopefully there will be even more improvement.

I refused Prolia as well. I have low blood pressure post transplant and that was one of the main side effects. I don't need it any lower. I took Fosamax for years, but then switched to Evista. Currently taking Evista 60 mg daily.

I don't know but It I asked can kidney patients take Prolia? it stated: Kidney function decline is not an adverse reaction that is listed in drug references for Prolia. However, this medication can cause a decrease in calcium (hypocalcemia), sometimes severely. The risk is greater with decreased kidney function, and healthcare providers are advised to use cautiously in these cases. God bless you seek another doctor's advice.
