Had a quick question about bubbles in urine. Some days my urine is totally clear. Perfect color no bubbles at all. Other days, usually the first/second time I go in the morning it has some bubbles in it. Can what you eat effect that? I eat a low protein diet, no red meat or poultry. Only a little fish. Do have type 2 diabetes. Sometimes sugar is a little high if I eat too many carbs. Just curious why some days I have the bubbles and other days I don’t.
Thanks

There are multiple things that cause water bubbles. Take a pot out and pour water from your faucet with the strength of the water on high..... guess what you get? Bubbles. Turn the stream down and no bubbles. Put a bit of soap in the pan, bubbles. Everyone alwasy jumps to too much protein in the urine causing this, and it a factor, but.... seriously, nothing to gage your CKD on.
My mum (ckd3) has seen bubbles in her urine, particularly if she has a UTI (see link below). This includes a few weeks ago when our urinalysis strips indicated nitrites which disappeared a week later after drinking more water than normal. She does have some proteinuria but at levels (~0.26g/24h, total 0.12g/l) below which her nephro is interested.
I also had bubbles in my urine. My nephrologist did test after test, and no protein. She actually spun the culture herself while I waited, and no protein. Sometimes it looked as if someone put soap in the bowl, it was so foamy. So I learned not to be overly concerned about bubbles. What causes it, don't know, and neither does my nephrologist.
I have bubbles in my urine every time I use the bathroom. It is what drew me here. I am not diabetic. I actually have pretty normal kidney function. I do take some meds, but doctors say that isn't causing it. I have had pretty intense urinalyses, all came back 100% normal. This has been going on for almost two years. Sometimes it is clear, sometimes it is really bubbly. No protein, nothing. 100% clear, healthy urine. The doctors quit worrying about it, so I did too.
If you have a concerning level of protein you wouldn't describe it as bubbles. Before my transplant, my urine foamed. It looked like the head on a good beer, completely covering all the water and standing up 2-3 inches.
