Hi Dog,There is a very clear protocol required but it may be different for each medicine. I have a monthly infusion which I had to schedule my vaccines very carefully around. Speak with the doctor that prescribes the immunosuppressant medication.
Thank you. Is there any published protocol I can find though? Here's my problem: First my nephorologist did not want me to get vaccinated (Risk not worth benefit she said) and now when I email for help and guidance because I am certain I have covid, I get "get tested" as a response. So good news, I ignored her recommendation and had my third dose in November (likely saving my life) Bad news I am completely on my own guessing, playing with my health. Symptoms appeared 4 days ago and I stopped my immunos. No one told me to...seemed logical. Son, who gave this to me finally got positive notification today. So I was correct. My results not available for another 4 days but I already know.Long story short...I have no answers, no guidance, nothing. All the websites, stating talk to your doctor are not helpful...it's not an option.
On 3 immunosuppresent meds: cosentyx (not a concern as monthly injection happened prior to covid), methotrexate and mychophenolic acid (one I'm worried about).
Oh boy, Dog.... what a situation. Find another doctor when you can. All of my doctors wanted me to take the vaccines AND the boosters. Just had to schedule it around my infusion which is Orencia. What did you rheumatologist suggest? I do not have suggestions as what to do for you because it is so individual. But I would call the rheumatologist to make sure that stopping the drugs is really beneficial. You may flare really bad.
That's a tough one. Come clean with your PCP and see what they advise. They can get info for you from the other specialists if needed since they don't seem to be helping you. Good luck to you. I'm glad you did get vaccinated so you won't get as ill from Covid. I had it the first year of the pandemic July 2020.
