I am a 39-year-old male with stage 3a CKD and no proteinuria. I just can't wrap my head around this. I thought you got proteinuria when your kidneys are injured. If there's no proteinuria, how come my kidney function is so bad? Does anyone else have the same issue? Can you share what caused your CKD? Specifically, what part of your kidneys was injured, and what is the name of your condition? Thank you—I would really appreciate it!

Does anyone have CKD with no proteinuria ?
I too have zero protein in my urine. The Dr stated the this indicte the level of degradation. The ida that I ahve zero means that my ckd is stable.
I have none usually, am Stage 2, but have Sjogren's syndrome, so between ckd & autoimmune disorder, I get UTI's, which seem to also cause hematuria & sometimes proteinuria. Inflammation from both increase incidence of kidney problems.
Hope you can find the best solution for your kidney function.
I’m 3b and not had protein in my urine. Ibuprofen was my downfall.
I have no protein in my urine. I'm at 3b and have been for several years. My nephologist believes my kidney problems developed because of poorly maintained hypertension.
I am 3b also. Shocked when I got diagnosed. But like you no proteinuria. My nepho seems to think it was from a hypertension incident 6 yrs ago (then kidneys not monitored) and NSAIDS. Have your labs run, understand the results, see a dietitian.
Good luck. There’s a lot of great support and info in this community
I have no protein in my urine. My CKD is from long term dehydration. I lost my colon 30+ years ago. Your colon is the organ that absorbs liquids and sends to kidneys. I've have a high output ileostomy. Most of what I drink come straight out my ileostomy bag. I have slightly high phosphorus and para whatever hormone, but I NEED potassium and sometimes even have to drink potassium supplements.
I'm stage 3 with no proteinuria. Kidney injury came from too much ibuprofen and high bp. No proteinuria is a good thing! I've noticed on this forum that CKD with proteinuria seems to progress, and CKD without can be stable for longer. Assuming your diet is kidney friendly.
I too had no proteinuria, with CKD stage 3A. Nephrologist believes mine was due to using Ibuprofen and chronic dehydration. Have been able to stabilize with CKD diet-basically whole food-modified Mediterranean diet.
