Hi everyone...I want to know that has anybody in this group went to stage 3 from stage 4?
Stage 4 to stage 3: Hi everyone...I want to... - Kidney Disease
Stage 4 to stage 3
When I found out I had CKD I was at a GFR of 35, and my next lab showed me at a 32. Stage 3 and very close to being in Stage 4. In the 17 months since then, I've gone up in GFR to a 65. That's Stage 2. With that in mind, I realize it's only a snapshot and my next one will likely be back into Stage 3 again. Sticking to a kidney-friendly meal plan, exercising routinely, and being vigilant on my medications is what helped me do that. Having said that, let me further say that in Feb. when I have my next labs done if I drop back to Stage 3 I won't panic because I will continue to do what I've been doing. Again, each lab is just a snapshot. So, to answer your question, yes it is possible to go from Stage 4 to Stage 3. Just remember to stay focused and don't worry if your GFR fluctuates.
Thanks a lot for your insights
Hi,
Don’t panic, that is a must, remember you are looking at eGFR, this is estimated!
I am in end stage kidney failure and I get strange readings after 7.5 hours of nocturnal dialysis. We have to look at these readings over a period of time

GFR is a ratio based on creatinine and age. I dropped a point in my GFR just because I had a birthday. GFR is something to use as a measurement over time. One lab when your really hydrated may produce excellent results, while the next one, you were dehydrated and it dropped. Good for you for having an increase. So much better than when it drops.
Which is a good reason to be as consistent as possible in your meal plan, exercise routine, hydration, and medications. This should be all of the time, but especially for the 4-5 days prior to any labs. When you follow all of the items I mentioned all of the time along with keeping your medical appointments you can get yourself into a positive routine that will help you delay the progression of CKD for as long as possible. There is no cure and when you watch the items you have control over the results will also be positive.
It's also important to listen to the stories of others and at the very least, listen to what works for others. The only way to find out what works for you is to stay with the designed program for you and if changes have to be made speak to your medical professionals and make the changes that will be right for you and not what works for someone else.
