hi I would like to introduce myself . I am posting for my husband who just went into stage 4 egfr of 29 after a severe UTI. He sees his kidney dr every 3 months but a few weeks ago he was lightheaded and I took him to the dr . He is also fatigued Dr gave him iron pills because he is anemic. To be totally honest I am a nervous wreck for him he is 83 yrs old.
Any advice will,be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry for that Maysie, Anemia is an expected complication of the ckd could be causing the fatigue. He might benefit from exogenous erythropoeitin, but seek advice from his physician. His diet should also include food rich in iron like dark greens, meat would have been good but it'll increase his protein load. I hope this will be helpful to you.
Acute injury has a greater chance of recovery to its primordial state. The kidneys produce a hormone that aids in the production of red cells. If the iron doesn't help then if insurance approves, he could get an infusion of epogen. Temporary dialysis may help the kidneys recover too. some use it although they may have to get even lower. Again it's probably an insurance decision.
