I’ve never dieted before but my weight has crept up over the years, and I need to put a stop and get down to about 10 stone. I swim non stop for 30 minutes 4 days a week and walk between 1 and 4 miles with the dog every day, the distance depends on whether I’ve been swimming or not. I think my problem is portion control. I’m 72 and weigh 11 1/2st.

Hi everyone
Hello and welcome beachbuoy 😊
That’s a lot of exercise, well done you! Dog walking is great isn’t it? Portion control is a big issue, especially as we get older and need less ‘fuel’

Hi, beachbouy , welcome.
I am 70, and I have lost four and a half stone.
If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

Hi and welcome if portion control a problem try using smaller plates may seem obvious but it's a start and over last 20 years or so plates have almost doubled in size. I've got a set of crockery from 70's and I can vouch for that when compare with set I use most.
