Hi all, I’m on week 4 of the twelve week programme. I’m really enjoying it!

I’m ticking along ok, losing weight slowly but it’s staying off so far. Since my initial assessment I’ve lost around half a stone. I feel better and I’m exercising more than I have for a long time. My muscles are extremely tight, especially in my legs, and I have very little flexibility. I’m beginning to think I’ll never be an Olympic standard gymnast. 😳 🤪

Good morning Chrissypud and welcome to the weight loss forum.

What a great start! I'll be able to give you a 7lb badge: the next one will be 1 stone - now isn't that something to look forward to?

I'd like to check that you're using the appropriate calorie range. The 1400 figure is a generic one and unlikely to suit very many of us. Get a personalised range from the NHS BMI calculator and work to that, ideally starting in the upper half of the range. You'll have a better chance as you won't risk feeling hungry and you'll be able to reduce gradually as you lose weight.

To help you navigate the forum, we’ve put all the information you’ll need in a Newbie pack and here’s the link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... Please take your time to read this as it gives a full picture of the support and information available.

To get the most out of the forum, come here as often as possible. It's all free, open daily and the only requirement is to get involved and encourage others, as the forum runs on mutual support.

We also ask you to think about your privacy and security online. If you prefer your posts to be read only by people on this forum, you need to lock them, particularly if your username and avatar may make you recognisable. I have done this for you on this occasion; you can override this if you wish. Further detail about online security here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Wishing you all the best and hoping to see you around the forum

By the way, it would be interesting to know how you found your way to this forum :)

Thank you for that. I was directed here by the ladies who run the weight management course. I’ll have a look at my settings to make sure I post privately and I’ll have a look at the newbie pack too. Thank you! ❤️

Thanks:)

The 2nd link I've given you will tell you how to make you posts private.

Oh, regarding the Olympics, I don't think the selectors have got going yet, and anyway I hear Beckie Downey is injured so you could take your chance :D

Hi Chrissypud well done on week 4. You must be feeling fantastic. I think its better to lose weight slowly as it stays off as you have just said. You might not get to be an Olympic gymnast but I bet you are better with all the exercise you do now:)

Welcome and great news Chrissypud

As for gymnastics, start off with something easy like the bar ;)

Hi Chrissypud Well done on your progress so far. I really enjoyed the 12 week programme too. I've always had a problem with flexibility, and increasing age only makes things worse. This year I started weekly yoga classes and have noticed a huge improvement in my flexibility. (I know I should do it between weekly classes too but haven't quite got round to doing that yet). I don't know whether you can fit this in to your lifestyle?

Don't give up on the Olympic Dream! We'll all be cheering you on in Tokyo 🤸‍♀️

I think I might be a bit past the Olympics but I have a few yoga excerxises I can try at home. So I might give that a go! Thank you 😍
