It's good that's your partner loves you for being you... You will get oodles of support on here.. just be as involved as you can be...
Please check with your health professional regarding your actions to lose weight and get their support locally to compliment this wonderful forum...
I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club - which is what I call the sat-nav to the benefits of the forum and we trust will be a good place for you to connect with other members, who like you are also just starting out on this forum. Please post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon realise the encouragement and support this forum offers.
Hi paigelouise93 , just come along to welcome you to this great forum. You seem very sensible in your out look and you will get loads of support here. Just come and join in as much as you can and get to know us. Good luck
all you need to do is click on the first link in the reply from minniewinny and that will take you to the Newbie club. Once there take your time to have a read of all the information. It takes a little time to familiarise yourself with the forum, but if I can do it, you certainly can lol
Probably doesn't help that the site changed everything this morning. Try this... click on 'My hub' at the top and choose 'Weight Loss NHS'. If you're using a computer then you will find 'Events' on the right hand side of the screen as you scroll down. You will see Monday's weigh-in but it will be locked for postings until tomorrow.
i have found one monday mass mo ers 15th jan? im guessing thats right is there a particular format i have to write it? beat get hunting for a measuring tape haha thankyou for all your help everyone X
Hi Paige, as you'll have discovered, you've arrived right in the middle of some changes to the site! Anyway, you've found Monday Mass Movers so you can go on there tomorrow.
It'll be obvious when you get there but just to summarise, we put last week's weight and this week's (for you it will just be your start weight this week) and say what the difference is - that helps the Admins to keep weekly stats. Beyond that, you can say how your week's gone and what you're planning for the week ahead, anything that's going on with you, really. And - most important - have a look at other people's posts and give them some encouragement, as they will for you. Good luck!
Welcome to the forum, I am coming to the end of my 3rd week and the support I have got from everyone has been amazing. It's so good and I feel you will do really well here.
Good luck for your first week and if you have any queries don't hesitate to ask.
Hallo Paige, well done on making a great decision. I am 61 and need to lose 2 stone 4. Well I have lost 8 lbs of that already, but not sure how I will have done this week because I had to eat what I was given due to having flu. So I couldn’t count the calories. I am 5 foot 2 and I am aiming for 9 stone then I’ll see how I look and feel. I want to be an active Grandma, not a sitting in a chair one! Good luck with your weight loss, the people on here are really positive and supportive, I find.
aww well done thankyou for replying i wish you all th best i have the motivation but it struggle 3 years ago i weight 15st 6lb from 17st 5lb tht was from pregnancy and i hate to admit it but eating for 2 a massive climb from 10st before pregnancy then i managed to get to 12at 12lb but then i met my new partner 3 years ago and it piled back on i suppose because i was happy my weight dropped dramatically 12lb in 1 week from 15st 6lb, i just need more support X
I started my journey last year on 8th October. I would urge you to look at the Newbie club where you will get all the information you need to navigate the forum, and join a weigh in on a day that suits. Look at the calories for your BMI and that is a good place to start.
I just picked 3-4 pound goals at a time and the weight soon dropped off. I have tried loads of different diets and eating regimes over the years and this NHS one has been the most sustainable. We are all in the same boat and give each other lots of support.
thankyou i have looked at it, my bmi says alot more calories i eat now way more im going tp try and stay in the 1400 my issue is portions so going to be a hard day cutting them down as more portions are like 3 times more yhan they should be but will see how i get on X
i have but what it recommends for me is 2444 calories that way more than what was eating, i dont eat crispys fried food (only when we have a full english for tea which is rare, everthing is made from scratch i may hae some choc once a week if that but i live of coffee and diet coke i have one big meal at tea time everything i make is from scratch as its so much better and habit from past diet, my bmi is really high but if i go to what range it says my weight should be is between 7st 9lb to 10st 9lb my body isnt made for that size i was 10st at 16 i have huge hips and little legs my mum used to complain because i was the same weight but i had to get size 10 clothes at 12 years old when i was 7st ive always been told where i a going wrong is not eating regular X
You sound just like me paigelouise93 I got fat eating healthy food, but too much of it! 😜
Take it one step at a time. You are already cooking healthy meals which is excellent. But our bodies are like cars and need fuel to work efficiently, and most evidence suggest eating two or three times a day,
The next issue is the Diet Coke and coffee, could you reduce these? The caffeine will really muck up your hunger hormones (not to mention sleep habits).
Your Calorie target is a range, I’m guessing between 1800 - 2400. If you feel the higher amount is too high then could you try nearer the 1800? It’s important to have somewhere to go, as you get smaller you will need less calories 😕
And please don’t let the recommend weight suggested on the BMI put you off, losing 5 or 10% of our body weight will significantly improve our health 😊
I measured my portion sizes when I first started to get an idea of what was a portion and I now put more veg on the plate before things like potatoes or meat. I also always had some vegetables ready prepared in fridge to munch on if I got peckish.x
Welcome to the forum!! I know you will fit right in here. You sound very nice and on your journey to losing your weight. I wish you all the best of best in your journey.
Hi Paige . I only started here last week . I’m similar height and weight as yourself but I’m older ..48. 6 years ago I was 14st 11 and I joined a diet club and lost 5.5 stone in 18 months . Like you I had my first child when I was young and after having 3 children but by sticking to a diet I went from a size 20 to a size 10 and I was 9st 4 so anything is possible . Good luck on your journey .
