Newbie on the block

I have a 6+ stone to loose, and I'm starting with a goal of loosing 7lbs by the end of May. I eat well, lots of veggies etc. Nearly all food is cooked from scratch as we do not like processed food/meals and I have started having smaller portions at mealtimes.

The only thing I do not like is exercise, but I am willing to start walking as it is free and with the warmer weather coming I shall feel more inclined to go.

Looking forward to a healthier lifestyle..

Hi and welcome, peggysue :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.

We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

we all do....

im reading an amazing book at the moment about de-cluttering and I thought it was about keeping my house clean and to the minimum but they are talking about the body too, clean eating and wrote a list of things we no longer believe and say to ourselves... I can type it up for this forum if it helps..

its all about control which I lack as I have always been a comfort eater but with a wedding in august I need to take charge!

That sounds an interesting book...who's the author and title?

You'll soon be back in control and you have a super event to aim for!

Right now I have to go and walk 10+ minutes to catch a bus - I shall be counting the number of steps I've taken towards the 10,000!!

that's awesome... I fractured my foot but able to get 6000 steps in .. and then next week I will try and increase to 7000, they say 10,000 in a minimum.... best of luck with that....

I will send the author and title... its a fab book

Hi hun, welcome to this wonderful friendly forum and to the first step in weightloss.. I have just rejoined after being off the forum for over a year and have a similar goal to you in weightloss.. Exercise is an added bonus in losing our weight and getting healthy, starting with small goals and working your way up to bigger ones is the way to go ( personally). Even just walking up the road and back is a start to be built on.. I live semi-rural and must say there is no better feeling of 'wellbeing' like standing on top of a hill and surveying the land around you.. I am going to be doing just this to aid my journey, something I have let lapse over the last year for many reasons.. Good luck hun, a wonderful future awaits you. 😊

Hi I am sitting here reading the various posts and thinking how much I have in common with the emotional eaters. I did not weigh in last week because I was away dog sitting for my son. Instead of relishing the time I ate anything and everything. Not been on track since although I have kept reading about the forum. Think Shellie's post triggered my realisation that I need to get on with it. So here goes back to healthy eating and thanks everyone.
