My weight loss looks like...

... a pile of books.

With a lot of weight to lose, I find it hard to imagine what the numbers on the scales really mean. So, as I lose weight I've been piling up the equivalent amount in the form of books in the corner of my bedroom. When I pick these up I am truly astonished at how heavy even a few pounds are to carry about. I'm hoping this will encourage me to keep motivated :-)

What does your weight loss look like?

Have you got far to go?

Almost 50% of my body mass - fortunately I have lots of books :-D

Sure you are going well, the book idea is genius, I bet you will make it. :D

I do hope so - time for a change before I get too much older.

Just keep at it, a guy on another post saves £1 for every pound of weight that he loses. That and your book idea are good motivators.

I've lost 18kg which is the weight of a fully laden suitcase ☺or a small child ☺

When I'm tempted by fresh crusty bread, (my weakness), I picture a wheelbarrow full of bread dough. I saw this once on a weight loss programme and I can still remember it, uergh 😯😯😯

PS you can do a Google search for what weighs xxx lbs . . . Some funny answers 😆

Bread has been a failing of mine since teenage - sounds like I could do with your mental image of it as dough too.

PS I've lost the equivalent of an average housecat so far, apparently :-D

Hehe 😆

18kg is 120 Guadeloupean bananas! !!! 😆

What a fantastic idea - how long has it taken to lose the 7lbs?

orcadiana profile image
orcadiana in reply to linds

Three weeks so far, and lost 11 pounds - quite a hefty pile of books already :-)

OMG! I've lost 100lbs, which is the equivalent to a bloodhound, a dresser, a 2 month old horse or a toilet!!! :o :D :D :D

When I lost the weight of my suitcase filled for holiday I knew I was on the right road - the stress on my poor ankles!

I injured my foot about 10 years ago and it's taken a long time to recover. If only then I'd lost weight I'm sure it would have recovered more quickly. I'm really determined this time but am focusing week to week rather than tempting failure by setting too big a target that seems unreachable.

Great idea. I do something similar. I have my Lardometer :) Each time I have lost some weight I visualise it as 250 gm packs of Pure Lard . Makes you think. Like the idea you can pick it up though. Well done :)

Sounds like a good way to think of it too - anything that keeps us motivated is great :-)

Great idea I used a more portable idea in the past which helped me loose 2 stone. I drew 56 rectangles that represented packs of butter that represented the weight I wanted to loose, it was really encouraging to colour in a rectangle every time I lost half a pound

i thought that if i should fall off the wagon i could move one off the pile and then back again... but i am determined not to have to do that this time :-)

Tom Kerridge has lost the equivalent weight of Chris Evans. My husband heard that on radio 2 this week! Xx

I wouldn't mind losing Chris Evans if it got me to target weight :-)

I've lost the equivalent of 25 cans of soup just 100 more to go. Wish I could loose them as fast as I can eat them.

Hehe :-D

I keep trying to remember it's taken me years to reach this weight and will take time to lose it again (but it's so hard not to be impatient) :-)

I love this idea. Visibility is such a good idea. It gives you an extra feeling of achievement plus motivation. I'm definitely going to try this.

I love this idea and will definitely be copying it. Thanks orcadiana . I weighed my shopping the other day and found it weighed a pound less than I'd lost - it really spurred me on!

I have lost 1 stone and this seems to be the same as 11 Basketballs. I have had great fun with this idea. Some of the things that I also noticed this to mention was food items but I didn't want to put these items on here so I kept going until I found items that weren't food.😀
