New Anti Depressants fueling hunger.

I've been on anti depressants for a good half a year now, and after being recently checked over again, they decided to put me on different pills. And I can definitely feel way more hungry all the time. There's no way it's a placebo, which sucks.. because I can see the weight coming back on. Every time I look at the scales, I am losing even more motivation.

Just feels like everything is against me right now, any tips and tricks to keep hunger at bay? I want to eat the normal 3 meals a day, but I find myself grazing throughout the whole day.

Any help at all would be appreciated, thanks :)

Hi GenericGeorge I know some anti depressions can make you gain weight, have you spoke to your GP about it. Try to explain that after losing 6 stone, which is fantastic well done you, that you don't want to gain weight again. Maybe they can change them for you.

Sorry you feel everything is against you at the moment, try and remember how well you have done so far and will continue to do this is just an small obstacle, you will get there. Have you tried introducing 2 healthy snacks into your day between your meals, it may stop you feeling hungry. Try drinking more water during the day to help fill you up.

Hope this as helped.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try the healthy snacks between meals and I'll try my hardest to drink more water.

I have a Doctors appointment Tuesday so hopefully he will understand

Could it be that you are starting to feel better so that is why you are getting hungry again, I have suffered from depression for years and have noticed that when I get bad my appetite goes but I have been on tablets for a long time and it not so bad but I do feel hungry all the time so am severely overweight, I have started healthy eating but I would rather battle hunger then my depression, Good luck, try to do something to take your mind off food and illness xx

The one thing I notice with new pills is how thirsty they make me. The thing is, we often confuse dehydration for hunger, so I wonder if this is your problem. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water - if you feel hungry, have a glass of water first, and give it a minute to see if the hunger goes away.
