This is the 'Afternoon/Evening Session' of the Fab 5'ers Monday weigh-in group, so please post in this thread if you're weighing in with us this afternoon and/or this evening!
The Morning Session has gone really well, and please have a look at the thread if you want to catch up with how everyone is doing:
If you join us for this Monday group weigh-in then one of the Fab 5’ers (Prin, Suzybenj, LotToLose and myself, Lowcal) will reply to you. However, please be patient with us, as we do have other commitments, but we will do our very best to get back to you as soon as we can.
Moreless (lovely Fab 5’er) won’t be with us for another week as she is away on her holidays. Looking forward to catching up with her when she gets back, and we’ve definitely missed her!!! ☺
So, I’ll start off with my weigh-in results: Last Monday I was 12 stone 11.2 pounds, and today I weigh: 12 stone 13 pounds, so I’ve gained 1.8 pounds this week. I had a good week, and got to the gym twice, which was my goal, but over the weekend I have to admit that I have had some pre-Birthday celebrations with family and also friends, and therefore the weight has understandably increased. But I am really pleased to still be in the 12's.
***Important Notice*****
I am going to be away from Wednesday 20th April 2016 to Saturday 30th April 2016 inclusive, celebrating my Birthday (Big 50) in Sunny Spain!!! So, this means I won't be here for the Monday group weigh-in on 25th April 2016, so please look out for Prin’s name on 25 April 2016, as she will be posting the weigh-in threads (both Morning and at the Afternoon/Evening threads). You’ll be in great hands with the lovely Fab 5’er team, as usual.
I’ll be back in good time for the May Bank Holiday weigh-in on 2 May, so will look forward to catching up with everyone then.
I will have time to do the stats, so please don’t worry about that – your stats will be kept up to date, and included in the updates each week, as normal. ☺
However, as I am going to Spain early on Wednesday morning, this means I will be doing the stats for this week today, and will also check for late weighers and include them on Tuesday evening (i.e. tomorrow evening), so please ensure you’ve weighed in before the cut-off point of 6pm on Tuesday 19th April 2016, otherwise you might not be counted in the stats – unless Prin is kind to you and adds your results in belatedly. (I’ll leave that decision up to her of course!) The stats summary will then be with Prin by Tuesday evening, in preparation for when she posts the thread on Monday 25th April 2016.
I will also send out a reminder post tomorrow evening, which I will put in the Events section, to remind people to look out for Prin’s name on 25th April 2016 – as we don’t want people to get lost and not be able to find the weigh-in threads.
My goal for while I am away is to try to stay in the 12's, - and I need to do my best to minimise the potential weight gain that could occur if I'm not careful...! Being away on a celebratory holiday is a challenging thing!!! But my plan is do to plenty of exercise and also make some healthy choices with my food and drink, wherever possible!
Here are this week’s stats:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 134.
Total overall weight lost: 135.7 pounds (61.55 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 79 (156 pounds lost) (70.76 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 13 (20.3 pounds gained) (9.21 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 23.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 18.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 1.
Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated).
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless.
There are also some great posts in the Pinned Posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage) which detail various Challenges taking place - so do join in with any that take your interest!
Wishing you all a great weigh-in!
Lowcal ☺

Hello, this is my first proper weigh in- I was 71.1kg last week and 70.7kg today which isn't a massive loss but at least it's in the right direction. I'm going to keep going with the C25K and hope for some more weight loss this week
Thanks LotToLose, Well done on sticking with C25K, I guess I'm cheating really as I started on week 6 as I have previously done it, and I'm doing other sports regularly, but I am finding 3 runs a week hard to do, I am only doing 2 runs a week really as I'm kayaking lots in preparation for an expedition. I remember when I did C25K from scratch I was petrified of having to run for the longer periods, but it is possible! I found keeping the same route helped as I could see how far I ran on different weeks. Are you finding the running helps you to lose weight? How far into your weight loss are you?Katie
You do sound very fit already, I am still nearly 4 stone over weight, after losing 5stone, so I have to take it steady. I used to run about 6 years ago and am mindful that I don't want to cause any injuries, so I am taking the C25K very slowly, often repeating days just to be sure I can safely do them.
In the past, I have found running to be fantastic for weight loss, so once I can do more, I am sure it will help.
Good luck for your kayaking expedition, that sounds fascinating!
C25k - is a great programme. When I did it - I just trusted the programme - if Laura said I could do it - I believed I could. As you say take it slowly. Well done on the weight loss BTW - I had not clocked your amazing achievement.
Hi, I'm new here. I weigh 11st 6 according to the BMI I need to loose a 1 stone 6. I've been exercising for about a month but I didn't weigh myself, I feel disheartened that I didn't realise how much I weigh and hope I can lose some weight.
Welcome Jenwriter, you can and will lose the weight. I started here last September feeling just as disheartened, but I have stuck with it and it works.
I am looking forward already to your results next week!
12.20am I am just going to have some lunch, so please be reassured that I will be back to reply to posters as soon as I can. Keep posting, and your reply will be responded to this afternoon/evening. We're a bit low on Fab 5'ers today - due to holiday and other commitments, but we will get back to you!
Thanks lotToLose.😀 let's hope it continues, only problem is I'm gonna need a new wardrobe soon. As silly me threw all my skinny clothes out last year thinking 'I'll never get back in to that!!'
Hi Lowcal. Sorry you have gained a little this week but hey you are only 50 once! I am sure once all your birthday celebrations are over you will be back on track and lose that extra in no time. Pleased to report that I have lost a pound this week so down to 10 st 12.5lb. I do however feel a little sluggish and bloated so not sure what that is all about. I did hurt my back on Thursday and have had to cut down exercise a bit so that may not have helped. Anyway I really hope you have a fab time in sunny Spain Lowcal and wish everyone a great week
A pound is a pound, so to be celebrated. Maybe a bit of fluid around your sore area on your back could be the culprit. I hope it gets better quickly and you are able to do all your exercise this week.
Had a stressful week last week, so no change. Still at 13 stone.
On the positive side, I didn't gain anything and somehow still lost 1/2 an inch on my waistline.
So I'm not feeling too bad about it and have used the weekend to get back on track with healthy eating to combat the 2 take outs and cake from last week's stresses.
Next time I won't keep the leftover cake in the house. The neighbour has two teenage sons who probably need it a lot more than I do!
I feel you with the stress, Vicki, my week was awful in that regard too. It can affect your weight loss, as cortisol courses through the body, so staying the same is really good.
Trouble was, I had to make a (gluten-free) cake for a baby shower on Saturday the 9th. That was fine, there were plenty of people around to eat it and I'd planned for the party. The issue was when I had half a cake left! It was just far too much temptation to have in the house last week when I was stressed out anyway.
Definitely the teenage boys next time, I've learned my lesson!
Good afternoon everyone, I haven't finished reading this morning's thread and I only have a short while on here this lunchtime, but I will be back later.
Congratulations to all who posted, whether you lost or gained or stayed the same, just being here makes you a winner in my book!
Last week for me was horrendously stressful and I was worried that it would affect my weight loss as I know in the past that stress can derail me. Luckily, I was able to stay on track, food-wise and I managed most of my exercise, so I lost 1.5lbs this week. Phew!
Great to see you, and Congratulations on losing 1.5 pounds this week, that is really great! I can see that you had a horrendously stressful week last week, and I'm very sorry to hear it was like that for you. Even more credit to you for not letting that derail you from your focus on your weight loss goals, and really well done for staying on track food-wise and exercise wise.
You've done really well. I hope that this week will hopefully be a less stressful one, and catch up with you later.
Hi! Last week I was 11 stone 6 and today I am 11 stone 4, so a 2lb loss. Am really happy with that. My goal this week is to go for 3 x 3 mile runs and try and eat sensibly most days.. Good luck everyone.
Wow, you've lost 2 pounds this week, that is really great!!! Congratulations!!! I am so glad you're feeling really happy - as it is a great result.
Good luck with your goal to do 3 three-mile runs and eat sensibly most days. Sounds like a great plan.
Remember to look out for Prin 's name next week, as she'll be posting the Monday group weigh-in next week, and I'll be back as usual for the May weigh-in on 2nd May.
At the end of week 2 I have lost another 0.7kg, getting to 75.0kg (my first mini-goal). As a reward I went and bought a proper pair of cycling shorts today - I've been cycling to work once a week for a while now, but only just worked up the confidence to walk into the cycling shop feeling confident that a "large" would fit!
Wow, this is great news to hear you've lost 0.7kg and reached your first mini-goal - many Congratulations!!! Glad you bought your cycling shorts, and that they fit you well - that is so great! I think it's brilliant that you've been cycling to work for a while now. That's such great exercise. Hopefully the weather will be so much better from now on, so you can really enjoy those rides.
Prin will be posting next week's Monday group weigh-in, as I shall be away, so remember to look out for her name.
I'll look forward to catching up with you when I'm back for the weigh-in on 2nd May.
Firstly happy 50th birthday Lowcal, enjoy Spain, it's so cold here can you stick me in your suitcase? You are determined to stay in the 12s so after your big day (and holiday) I'm sure you will do that.
I was 10st 6.8lbs last week and 10st 4.8lbs this week, so a loss of 2lbs. I am sooooo pleased. Every day I mentally thank this forum and everyone in it, without you all I wouldn't have managed to do this.
If I took your name literally, then I would feel sure I could fit you in my suitcase no problem, but I know your weight now, so I know you would compromise my luggage allowance! But I'm very pleased to hear you've lost 2 pounds this week, so you are definitely getting lighter!!! Congratulations!!!
Sorry to hear you're feeling cold in your part of the World - thanks so much for your encouraging words, and I'll do my best to try to stay in the 12's.
You are getting ever closer to the 9's. Glad you're feeling soooo pleased, as that is a great feeling!
Love all your very smiley faces - and remember to look out for Prin 's name next week, as she's kindly posting the Monday weigh-in whilst I'm away. moreless will be back then too - so very exciting! I fear I may miss Moreless, so I will be excited to catch up with everyone when I get back.
We miss Moreless and will miss you too, but it's lovely that you both get a break. As for luggage, think of the calories you would use up and the exercise you would get toting me in a suitcase, heehee.
Well done all those who lost. Commiserations to all those who did not, keep the faith for tomorrow is another day
Last week
13st 9.6lb
This week
13st 8.6lb
Total loss = 1lb
The really annoying thing is yesterday I was bouncing about like a spring lamb because I weighed 13st 7lb exactly. I am beginning to think it's psychological sabotage.
But its still a loss which I will be happy with, for now. Note to self whatever madness is going on (house moving stuff) do not have a glass of glayva over ice the night before a weigh in because you had hit a magical number (7) that day and had an offer accepted on a house.
I am just imagining you jumping around yesterday like a Spring lamb, and I am sorry to hear that you gained a little overnight, but it's brilliant to hear you've lost 1 pound since last week. Hopefully that extra bit you had lost yesterday will spring back so you can enjoy the loss next week alongside any more that you lose this week! I know that sounds confusing, I do apologise!!! It is not psychological sabotage, we're having none of that round here - hopefully not anyway, as I know it can be subtle. We do need to watch out for it...!
I bet you enjoyed that glass of Glayva over ice though - I should say note to myself not to eat lots of very Chocalatey Birthday cake the night before a weigh-in too, along with bubbly stuff (posh Prosecco - really good!).
Wow, how brilliant that you've had an offer accepted on a house - really pleased for you! Good luck with everything!!!
Remember I'll be away next week and that Prin will be posting the weigh-in on 25th April, so don't miss it!
I'll look forward to catching up with you at the May Bank Holiday weigh-in on 2nd May.
It's great that you've posted your photo on your profile now - really nice photo! I'm glad you found us ok today, and it's great to have you on board with us for the Monday group weigh-ins. You've shared your starting weight, and I know you just joined the forum a couple of days ago, and it's great to hear you've lost a few pounds already! Great going! You're on the cusp of the 13's, so hopefully you'll be celebrating that next week - please do look out for Fab 5'er Prin 's name next week, as I shall be away, and Prin has agreed to post the weigh-in sessions on 25th April. I'll be back on 2nd May - so I'll look forward to seeing how you're getting on then.
I think you already have the Welcome Newbie thread etc, so I just want to wish you a great week ahead!
Apparently I'm not as fit as I was when I last darkened their doorstep.... "Go figure"!
I seem to have managed to avoid eating the Children's leftover chicken goujons this week, so the biggest hurdle I now face is finding a training shirt that compliments the strangely mottled puce colour my face now goes after twenty minutes on the running machine.
Perhaps my plan of joining the "veterans" team at the local Rugby club next weekend was a bit ambitious! I'll leave it a couple of weeks and see how I'm doing
The App on my phone tells me that my weight is now 225.8 lb, which is a weekly change of -2.6 lb.
Great that you've completed your first week - I hope you enjoyed it! Brilliant that you've been to the gym and done 2 sessions, really great! Interesting that you're not considered as fit as when you were last there - I sense you are doubting that conclusion.
I'm glad I'm not alone in modelling the ravishing puce colour on the treadmill running machine! My sport's gear is mainly black, and I find that colour goes really well - but let me know which colour your go for in the end. Hope you find something you like.
Wow, you're brave to join the Veteran Rugby Club - that sounds like challenging stuff!
Congratulations on losing 2.6 pounds this week, that is a really excellent start. Your weight is likely to level down a bit after the first week or so, but 1 to 2 pounds per week is really healthy and sustainable in the longer run.
Please remember to look out for Prin 's name for next week's weigh-in (25th April) as I am away - but I'll be back to post the May Bank holiday weigh-in on 2nd May.
Wishing you a great week ahead.
Lowcal
Hello Lowcal and everyone. A quick pop in from me. I've got an awful stomach bug, came on suddenly last night, and I've taken the day off to sleep it off today.
Just stepped on the scales, but not sure how representative today's weigh in will be as my body's feeling pretty wrecked 😞 So I have a 2lb loss to report this week, down to 9st9. This still keeps me within my maintaining range of 9st8-9st11. But of course it may just be due to dehydration...
Lowcal I hope you have an excellent break away for your 50th. I'm sure you'll stay well under 13st throughout, a little gain here and there can be addressed afterwards. Lots of good healthy food to choose from in Spain so sensible choices should see you through. Many happy returns in advance 😄 🎇🎈🎂🎁
Oh I'm so sorry to hear you've got an awful stomach bug - that must be really bad, and I hope you feel better really soon. Take care and sleep it off. Probably good to keep hydrated if you can, maybe with some mineral salts - but I'm not sure of the best way to cope - I suspect you'll know better than I would.
Congratulations on losing 2 pounds, but of course, like you say, your poor body is pretty wrecked and ill just now. Like you say, it's probably partly due to dehydration, and you'll have a better idea once you're better and can weigh-in next week.
Thanks so much for your kind words about my holiday and Birthday, and I'll do my best to stay in the 12's. I've worked hard to get there, and I hope to stay there!
I'll look forward to catching up with you when I get back, and in the meantime, you look after yourself, and get well soon.
Hi. I have had a really good week & despite a minor wobble I have lost 3 pounds this week. That means.....fanfare of trumpets....I have lost 7 pounds in total. Well pleased with that.
Glad to hear you've had a really good week and that you've lost 3 pounds, despite a minor wobble - that is fantastic!!! Congratulations! You've lost half a stone in total, that is brilliant!
Good luck with your goal to lose 2 pounds this week. Please remember to look out for Prin 's name next week as she will be posting the Monday group weigh-in, and I'll be back to post the next one on 2nd May.
First of all, a big happy birthday to you Lowcal! Have a fabulous time celebrating your big day. Turning 50 in style on a holiday to Spain with your loved ones is a wonderful treat!!! Enjoy!!!
My weightloss this week is a 0.2kg, which is a win for me because my partner and I went out for dinner yesterday to GBK and it was a mahoosive calorie blowout. The food was delicious and we enjoyed ourself very much, so in my book it was worth it 😊
Overall I'm at 81.6 now (81.8 last week) and so still 0.9kg ahead of schedule. I'm thankfull for this buffer as this week's food is not totally in my control. Hoping to loose 0.5kg this week but will be happy to maintain also.
Overall, I noticed that keeping to my calories on the weekend is more of a drag than Monday to Friday. I still do it, but find it takes the fun out of breakfast with my partner and the kids. Meals together are very important to me and usually the focus isn't on what we eat but on having a great time together. Now, having to think of portion size, of weighing food and recording calories seems rather annoying. The rest of the week, I enjoy the above and so I hope that once I get more of a feel for what I can have, once I learn about all the healthy alternatives there are and get in the habit of choosing healthy portions, weekend mornings will become a lot more fun again!
On the upside I rediscovered cottage cheese, which I find is just as yummy as cream cheese but with a lot less calories 😊 70kcal = 30g Philadelphia vs 100g Sainsbury's Cottage Cheese.
Have a great week everyone. Wishing you much succes 👍
Thanks so much for your very kind Birthday greetings, and I agree, it is a wonderful treat to spend my 50th in Spain - I am very lucky!
Sounds like you had a fabulous meal out last night with your partner, and it's great that you enjoyed it so much. Congratulations on losing 0.2kg - that is a great result!!! The fact that you're 0.9kg ahead of schedule is so great, and shows what excellent progress you're making. Well done!
I think it's really nice that you enjoy the social aspects of eating with your family, because often that is the part that can get minimised when people rush about and grab and go - so to sit down and interact with each other in a relaxed and happy environment is really great, and helps with the digestion and social side of the meal.
Great that you've discovered a taste for cottage cheese too - I've not had any of that for years, maybe I should re-try it to see how it tastes now.
Please remember to look out for Prin 's name for next week's weigh-in, as she will be posting the threads.
Will look forward to catching up with you when I get back.
Congratulations on maintaining your weight this week, that is always so much better than gaining! Hope you've had a good week, and that you've enjoyed it.
Wishing you a great week ahead. Please do ensure you look out for Prin 's name as she will be posting next Monday's weigh-in post whilst I'm away.
Hi Lowcal. Just a quickie😃 to say have a fantastic birthday & holiday. I'm counting down to mine (6 weeks this Friday) then it's 2 weeks all inclusive in Bulgaria. Hoping to continue my weightloss to get a stone off before I go
Thank you so much, and great to hear you've got something fabulous planned for your Birthday too! Sounds really great, and lots of incentive to get a stone off before you go. Good luck!
Hi, Monday's are always busy for me but my husband and I weigh in on Sunday. my starting weight 2 weeks ago was 86.4 kg, last week I was 84.6 kg and this week I am 82.5 kg. So I am pleased with myself. The bikes came out yesterday and we did a tough 7 miles but as we are doing the 56 mile London to Southend bike ride in a couple of months we need to start training. My Moonwalk training is going well and we did a brisk 4+mph 8 miles last week. The goal is 10 miles this week in under 2 1/2 hrs walking and at least 15 miles on the bikes. My husband has lost a couple of kg so far but he has less to lose than me.
Excellent losses there, Sunny-day, you are doing very well indeed, even if some weeks, you lose more than others, the overall trend is down and that is what matters. Have another successful week this week!
Today I am 15,9. I last weighed in two weeks ago when I was 15,5 so that's a gain of 4lbs overall and 2lbs this week.
I'm going to write a longer post later on - but I'm pleased to have re-found my motivation (hopefully it will last) and next week I want to be heading downwards again!
Have a fantastic birthday Lowcal - it sounds like you're planning to!
Firstly, I'm glad to hear you've re-found your motivation, and I hope that it will last. You sound positive and I'm sure your weight will be heading downwards again as a result of that. I know you're planning to write a longer post later on. You've gained 2 pounds this week, but that will soon be a thing of the past, all being well.
A fresh week lies ahead, so Onwards and Downwards.
Thanks so much for your kind Birthday thoughts, which I appreicate!
Do remember to look out for Prin 's name next week, as she will post the Monday group weigh-in thread on 25th April. I'll be back for the weigh-in on 2nd May.
I look forward to reading your longer posts, Garfield and I am very pleased that you have rediscovered your motivation. Have a great week ahead and a super weight loss result next week!
Not a perfect week, my sweet tooth and snacking head returned at the weekend. I'm also having snacking issues in the evening when my son has gone to bed. Anyone else find this an awkward time of day?
I did however manage to find a lovely dress at a charity shop in a size 10 in black with geometric pattern. I'm not there yet but it fits on the hips and on the bust area ( where I thought it would struggle) unfortunately the middle section is the problem. So just need to find a suitable workout that targets that area.
11th April 2016: Weight: 10st 3.25lbs
18th April 2016: Weight : 10st 3.25lbs
So that's a maintain this week. It's not a gain , so I'll consider it a marginally successful week.
Will attempt a 1lb loss next week. Need to break my snacking habit along the way.
Oh those delicious, delicious snacks! You are probably tired at the end of the day, so the snacking head takes advantage then.
Maybe save some calories for the end of the day, or hide the higher calorie snacks somewhere you can't access while your son is asleep. (I used to hide them in my son's wardrobe when he was little and I couldn't access them without waking him up).
Have a great week and hopefully that lovely dress will fit you around the midriff soon (abs exercises are the bomb!)
At least I did enough exercise to counteract the snacking, I really thought I'd gone back up this week instead of maintaining. Might try your snack hiding technique.
Hi, just checking in for Monday pm weigh-in. Sadly I stuck this week, not as much walking as usual and a weekend of visitors, plenty to tempt me on the food front and more gin and tonics than planned for! Well, dust myself off and going forward. On annual leave next week, so more exercise for me
Thank you, it's a lot worse when you try SO hard and get a poor result. I find I will lose a few pounds and then have a bit of a hiatus, where I won't lose for 2 weeks and then it kick starts again. My husband has been warned not to proffer large gin and tonics this weekend! You have a good week too. x
Over the last 7 months, I have seen that stop-start weight loss happening to several people, it seems that is just what happens to a few and I have no idea why. It must make it so frustrating.
So it's been another good week. Well done for staying in the 12's! It is so good to feel good in yourself. Such a boost.
I didn't say, but I was away on holiday last week and called in from the sun and the sand! I lost another pound this week which is amazing given I enjoyed my food and drink - but perhaps the sun helps? I mostly ate salads and fish by choice. Now lost 13 pounds in the 13 weeks.
I have re measured myself. Now a total of: 3 inches off bust, 2 off waist, one and a bit off each thigh and one off each calf. Hips down two. This part is a result of the gym I am sure. Onwards and downwards. Keeping on going....
Oh, well done on losing weight on holiday! I think being in a warm climate does help as foods like salads and fruit are much more appealing in the heat.
Those measurements are amazing, what great results. I think maybe you deserve some new clothes!
The sad truth is that I am now fitting into old clothes, and have been restricted more than I knew by my weight gain. Now my clothes look better and I am happy with them. My wardrobe was full of stuff I couldn't wear, or I wore badly! So I have chucked out the worn out stretched stuff, which felt a great thing to do. De cluttering is good. If only I could do it with the kitchen food cupboard.
De-cluttering is a great process, although it can be a bit emotional (at least I find it like that) when encountering things you've worn previously etc, and maybe forgotten about etc. But essentially, it's great that you've done that.
I bet you could do a similar process with the kitchen food cupboard...!?
By the way, I think you've done brilliantly to lose a pound this week, after being on holiday - that's really great!
Have another great week ahead. Remember to look out for Prin 's name next week - she'll be posting the Monday weigh-in on 25th April.
Hi Mary, I know the feeling! Got into an old dress I couldn't wear today - and have banished the ones that still don't fit until I reach my goals. Could you move the dangerous things in your kitchen food cupboard right to the back so you aren't tempted?
Thanks so much for your very kind words for my Birthday, and I've definitely been allowing myself a few treats for making the 50th landmark - I will try to keep myself in check though, as I know how things can get out of hand sometimes...!
Great that you've enjoyed 2 bike rides this week, that's great. Congratulations on losing 0.25 pound - it all counts and it's in the right direction, just imagine that as some butter on a plate and you can see it's a good amount.
Wishing you a great week, and please remember to look out for Prin , who will be posting next week's Monday group weigh-in.
I'll look forward to catching up with you when I'm back for the 2nd May weigh-in.
6.20pm I am going to cook some dinner, but please do keep posting your weigh-ins, as we will respond to you during the evening. I'll be popping back now and then, and there will be other Fab 5'ers about this evening too.
Great that you have declared your intent up front - you sound very determined:-).
At the top right hand corner - there is a welcome newbies post with all sorts of advise and information. Also take a look at My fitness pal - if you have not done so already - you can use it to calorie count, or just record your measurements - not just weight - but all the vital statistics including BMI. When things go off the rails a bit -it is great to remind yourself of the progress you have made. Sometimes the tape measure records differences the scales doesn't
Yes you will get plenty of support - Good luck and see you next week
Hello all. I hope everyone's Mondays have been ok. Wishing you a great birthday celebration Lowcal!!

Week 7: 11st 5.4lb
Week 8: 11st 2.8lb
Week 9: 11st 0.6lb
Week 10: 10st 13.8lb
Week 11: 10st 13.8lb
Week 12: -
Week 13: 10st 12.6lb
Week 14: 10st 11.2lb
Week 15: 10st 8.8lb
Therefore that's a loss of 2.4lb - bit sceptical if thats actually weight loss or water due to only running a marathon yesterday but I guess we shall see
StephB- how amazing. I was tracking a number of Brighton marathoners yesterday from the c25k forum. They were all amazing - and I was very emotional following them. But none did as good a time as you - the closest was an hour longer. So really well done - what a triumph
And a bit of weight loss thrown in - what a great week
Do make sure you recover well and give your body hydration and nutrients---it will need to repair.
Hi, finally made it today! Unfortunatley stayed the same, which is disappointing after my effort this week.
Lowcal, sorry for your gain. I really hope you enjoy your celebrations and holiday . Congratulations - think how fab you will look and be proud of your achievement.
Hi vickster5 - weight loss is a very frustrating business - especially when the scales won't co-operate. Don't lose heart - sometimes it takes our bodies time to notice the changed eating habits and 'that you really mean it'. :-). Do the usual check out portion sizes etc
Yoga - how lovely - I hope you enjoyed the session
It really doesn't seem fair to work so hard and not get results - maybe they will show up next week!
Hi. This is my first weigh in on here at 14 stone 3 pounds. My first mini goal is 13 stone 10 pounds, which will bring me into the overweight zone. I'm hoping that with the support of others I can reach my goals step by step.
In the top right hand corner you will see a pinned post welcome newbies. This has all sorts of useful advise and information.
You sound like you have thought about this and what your goals are. A good plan being to set interim goals to go for. So a half stone loss will bring you into the overweight zone which will be a great psychological boost
howdy one and all Congratulations to those who have lost and those who have maintained and to those who have put on, it is tough but keep going taking every day at a a time believing in yourself to achieve XOX
i have stayed the same weight from last week, weighing in tonight @9st 10lbs. I have done NO exercise this week and consumed lots of white wine and meals out right through from Friday to today! I was in Edinburgh and enjoyed meals out and wine immensely, so back to porridge tomorrow morning. taking dog out now for a walk XO
Evening emielou- sounds like maintaining was a result- proving we can party and not have the scales react:-). But as you say - best get on top of it this week
Hello everyone not a good week for me sadly! After hurting my back last Saturday, I was off work for most of the week, which meant that I couldn't do any exercise and I ate lots I wasn't expecting anything but a gain today but it was still painful to see the extra 2.75lbs. Last week I was 14st 3.75lbs and this week I am 14st 6.5lbs. However, I went out for a run this morning and I have been to zumba this evening and I have had a perfect day calorie wise. I will be back on the strength and flex podcasts tomorrow so hopefully I will be able to undo the gain this week!
Oh, what a shame about your back and the subsequent weight gain. I am not surprised, I am sure many, if not all, of us would have done the same in your situation.
Clearly it is much better if you were up for your S&F podcasts and Zumba!
I hope you have a great week ahead and see all that weight off again next Monday.
Hi guys, I thought I would do ok as I was in calorie limit all week (no exercise though). Couldn't manage any exercise as had a tough week. We had a bereavement in extended family, I knew him he was a lovely person. I actually gained 2lbs. Need to do exercise next week!
This week, I tried doing the 12 week plan, and have completed my first week. I found it worked in parallel to using FitnessPal app to calorie count.
So this week, I was more systematic on weighing in at the same time in the day I can fairly say I've gone from
70.2 to 68.9 - a loss of 1.3 kg, or 2.8 lbs
I have also lost an inch around my waist which is even more encouraging.
My injury is getting better, so i'll walk to work tomorrow... But next week we are planning a few days away with friends, I am worried about the booze & food, temptations temptations!
What a great start! As for the weekend away with friends, perhaps look in advance at the places you are likely to eat out at and plan your meals. Or if you are cooking, then you can make healthier options. It is much harder if they are cooking for you, I just ask for smaller portions and extra veggies. Well, I do that when I eat out too.
Good luck and good news about your mending injury!
Hi everyone. Congratulations to everyone sticking with this journey. I have done much better than I thought possible this week. I am starting my 3rd week on the NHS diet today. I am disappointed that I haven't managed to join the gym yet this week as this was my goal but I have done really well at sticking to my calorie count. I have lost 5lbs this week! Goal for this upcoming week is to join and use a gym! Good luck to everyone maintaining their goals for the next week xxx
Lowcal you are only 50 once go on your hols enjoy and resume when you get back 🎂Late weight and n for me I had gained a pound, too much weekend wine but 3 more gym class have seen it off so you can have my evening weight back to 11.3. Would like to be 11.2 by next week have a great week everyone and happy holiday and birthday to our leader
Thank you so much for your kind words and Birthday wishes - much appreciated!
Well done for getting your weight back to 11 stone 3 pounds, that is great! Good luck at losing a pound by next week, and thank you so much for agreeing to post next Monday's weigh-in. I will rest assured that the Monday group weigh-in is in excellent hands between yourself and the remaining Fab 5'ers, and moreless is due back soon. Not sure when, but she'll be back!
Have a great week.
I'll make sure you get the stats tomorrow evening, as I will wait for the late weighers to weigh-in, but they have a 6pm cut-off point tomorrow (Tuesday 19th April), and I mentioned that in the entry to this weigh-in, so hopefully people will have noticed that.
I'm actually going to have to go to bed now (getting close to 11pm) as I am really really tired!!! So night night!!! I'll double check the threads tomorrow for late weighers.
A bit of a late entry this week. By some miracle I was surprise I managed to lose 2lbs again this week, I had two birthday meals that I attended and then my cheat meal last week, I was so sure I would have gained. I worked hard at the gym the past week so I must have burnt off those extra calories. I almost went on a major binge this week thinking I had screwed up and thrown all my hard work away, but then I told myself...keep trying, you never know, even if you stay the same weight this week it will be a bonus. This new mind set is definitely making me stronger... I am going to be more careful this week and continue. So in total I have lost 10lbs in 4 weeks, I am very pleased and my parents noticed my weight loss today which made me feel really happy and want to continue to achieve my goal. I have so much more energy now and already have started to feel lighter on my feet, these are the rewards of sticking to it and keep going no matter what. Aim for next week is to lose another 2lbs. Only 4 more pounds until I have lost 1 stone...woohoo!
I would like to wish Lowcal a very Happy 50th Birthday in advance, wishing you a lovely holiday, I think you have an excuse to enjoy yourself and then continue when you get back..hehe! Will definitely miss your input on this forum..x
Week 0: 12 stone
Week 1: 11st 10lbs (4lb loss)
Week 2: 11st 8lbs (2lb loss)
Week 3: 11st 6lbs (2lb loss)
Week 4: 11st 4lbs (lost another 2lbs)
Week 5: Aim to be 11st 2lbs
Short term goal: to get in to the 10's by May
Long term ideal goal: to be around 8st 3lbs by September
I'm just about to go to bed, but I know Prin is around just now. But I spotted your post, and wanted to thank you for your Birthday wishes for my 50th. I am looking forward to it, and excited about going to Spain.
Many Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week, you are making excellent progress. You're well on your way towards those 10's for May. Good luck! I hope you'll be there by the time I get back for the weigh-in on 2nd May!
In the meantime, look out for Prin who will be posting next week's weigh-in, and have a great week ahead.
Well done sugarplum you seem very focused, I am hopeful that you are not too tall your goal weight seems very light! Those 10's are really close now - you will be there by the time Lowcal comes back from her hols😜
11pm I am going to bed, as I'm sooooo tired!!! I'll double check the threads tomorrow, and to reassure any late weighers that I won't be completing the stats till just after 6pm tomorrow evening (Tuesday 19th April) so you can weigh-in up to 6pm and still be counted in the stats, but after that it can't be guaranteed that you'll be included. So please try to weigh-in before then if you can.
Night night, and do remember that Prin will be posting next Monday's weigh-in threads (25th April), and that I'll be back on 2nd May to post the May Bank Holiday weigh-in.
Really enjoyed reading everyone's progress today, and wishing you all a great week ahead.
I've not quite gone to bed yet, so just wanted to say Congratulations on your 2 pound loss, that is really great!!!
Wishing you another great week ahead. Do look out for Prin 's name next week as she'll be posting the Monday group weigh-in session that week as I'll be away.
Firstly, have a great holiday, I'm sure you will, and the salads and fruit are so delicious over there you will come back fitter and healthier as well 😊
I have had a funny week, very hungry at times, probably due to increasing exercise (lots of K's for the challenge 😊) so I'm not surprised to have gained, but only 200 g putting me back up to 72.1 kg 😕 I'm ok about it, trying to be pragmatic, as this journey was always about my health and fitness.
Thank you! I am looking forward to trying to get healthier and fitter whilst I'm away if I can. Like you say, there are lots of excellent produce over there.
Glad you're treating that 200g gain in pragmatic terms, and focusing on the health and fitness side of things, as essentially that is the most important thing - at least that's what I believe. You'll soon get that off again, and I hope you have a good week, and feel a bit less hungry - I wonder why you felt very hungry at times. Ahh, I see you've kicked up lots of Kms for the challenge - that is probably why! Hidden will be delighted with your excellent efforts. I must remember to post my Kms today at some point.
I'm not working today, which gives me some time to focus on my packing etc and I have many errands I need to do today to ensure I can leave without any worries - so I'm getting organised!!! Funny how quickly time can go though!!! The day will be gone before I realise it.
Hope you have a great week, and I'll look forward to catching up with you when I get back.
Just to say that you can post your weights in this thread as normal, but you need to do so before 18 00 hours today (19th April) to be counted in the stats. So try to get in before 6pm if you can! You can still post after that time of course, but we can't guarantee that your stats will be counted if you are after 6pm.
Prin will be posting the Monday weigh-in on 25th April, and I will be posting it as usual on 2nd May.
Good luck to everyone, and have a great week ahead!!!
You are definitely in good time! Thanks for popping by, and Congratulations on losing 500g since last Monday. That is great! Your result will be counted in the stats, and great that you'll be adding some comments later. Have a great day!
Been away for a couple of weeks but started my second 12 week plan yesterday. Lost 0.5 llb last week which makes 15llbs in total since start. Now at 10st 12llbs.
Hope you had a good time away, and welcome back! Fantastic to hear you've lost 0.5 pounds, and a total of 15 pounds in total since you started. You're well into the 10's now. Congratulations!!!
Do look out for Prin 's name next Monday as she will be posting the threads on 25th April. I'll be back to post the May one on 2nd May.
Have a great holiday. I am sure you will achieve your goal but remember you are on holiday to have a good time!
I am posting late die to my London weekend break. Ecstatic to report a maintain which was my goal. All that walking on Sunday paid off and feeling completely knackered afterwards was worth it! So last week 11st 12lbs and this week 11st 12lbs.
Hope you had a fantastic break in London - bet that was really great! I love that city so much! Great that your walking has paid off and that you've maintained your weight - that is a success after a weekend away. So really well done!
Have a great week!
Look forward to catching up with you when I get back.
Yes, we had a great time. The afternoon tea on the top deck of a routemaster was interesting - more from the point of view of trying to eat and drink when being rocked from side to side! I am glad we did it though - great fun.
Sorry I missed it. I've gained half a pound over the past two weeks. Feeling pretty rough due to a cold virus so no really in my groove at the moment. I'm not giving up though!
Great to see you! You're still in time to have your weigh-in results counted in this week's stats, so not too late! As you've gained half a pound over the past 2 weeks, I'll divide that by 2 to give an average weekly gain of a quarter of a pound. Completely understandable in the circumstances of having a cold virus, and I hope you recover soon so you can enjoy being back in your groove again.
Great to hear you're not giving up, and have a great week ahead.
Look out for Prin 's name next week, as she will be posting the Monday group weigh-in thread on 25th April. I'll be back to post the May one on 2nd May, so catch up with you then.
Have a great week and hope you feel better really soon.
Afternoon, I hope it's ok to write in my weight today as I wasn't in work yesterday. I have lost a whole 1.2 pounds. And I'm very happy about that! Although I have lost and gained that pound a lot this year so far. Eddie (Shetland) and I have run 3 times this week. We're now managing an 11 minute mile, except when his adoring fans ask me to stop and they chat to him. (Think of the pony on the Amazon advert - this one is as small, and is black and white, and even cuter!) My fitness is improving. I just have to be careful not to eat everything and anything when I get home afterwards as I'm ravenous! My goal for this week is to stay mindful of snacks and keep up the running. After tonight (I'm off for a meal with my friend) I'm also quitting alcohol for 3 weeks. I read an article where some ladies did that, and on day 10 they felt really awake and refreshed. As neither awake nor refreshed could ever describe me, I'm going to see if it's the alcohol which makes me so tired. Will go for a diabetes test too in case it's that.
Have a wonderful holiday Lowcal and a fantastic birthday!
Great to see you, and you're still in time for your stats to be counted. Fantastic to hear you've lost 1.2 pounds, that's really great! Congratulations!!
Great that you and Eddie have run 3 times this week. That's good going. An 11 minute mile is really good - but I can understand Eddie's fans wanting to stop him to chat and admire him. He sounds really cute!
You've got some great goals - being mindful of snacks and keeping up the running. Good luck with your aim to quit alcohol for 3 weeks, and I hope you get the same result as those ladies you read about who felt awake and refreshed after day 10 - it will be interesting to see if you get that feeling on the same day as they did...!? Hope your diabetes test goes ok too.
Thanks so much for your kind wishes, and I am excited about my forthcoming holiday and celebrations.
Have a great week, and remember to look out for Prin 's name for the weigh-in on 25th April. I'll be back as normal for 2nd May's weigh-in.
I'm posting my weight before catching up with everyone, because I don't want to hold up the stats. You must be rushed off your feet Lowcal, with prep for your hol and your birthday. I think your plan to stay in the 12's is a really good one, after all, we don't reach the half century every day! Celebrations are definitely in order, so don't worry about any small gains
I've had a fantastic holiday and am extremely happy to only have to report a tiny gain of 0.75lbs, I feared it would be much more, although I have tried to be good (ish )
I'm hoping everyone has had a good week and I can't wait to do some reading and catch up with everyone
As you know, I am very excited that you're back, and you've been missed by us all - so glad you're back safe and sound! Wow, a very tiny gain of 0.75 pounds, that is really good going! Well done. Holidays can be so challenging from a weight perspective, and Congratulations on such a minimal gain. You'll soon have that off again in no time.
There's lots for you to read and catch up on, so I'll leave you to that, whilst I just pop off to do some much needed packing.
Onwards and downwards!
(Although personally my aim is to maintain over my Birthday celebrations - quite challenging in itself...!).
I forgot how much I weighed last week... Going to start posting my weight so I can look back and remind myself! So I weigh 206lbs this week, which I think is a 1.5lb loss...
Hi all. sorry for late post. I've had a bad week and I think I wanted to forget to post my results lol.
so in one week put in a cold, time of the month, stomach bug and just no energy to do anything. my goal was to loose 1 kg but instead i weighed in at 82.1kg and have gained 0.7kg 😕
oh well i can only hope for better results this week even though I'm still not feeling 100%.
Well done for biting the bullet and posting your gain Carpo, it really is the best thing to do
I think, that considering all you've had to deal with, a 0.7kg gain is really good. Hopefully, once you feel fighting fit, you'll be able to get shot of those gained pounds, quick smart!
For the time being, go a little easier on yourself and concentrate on getting completely well again.
Hi Zest Sorry late again and I know I've missed the cut off, but thought I'd post anyway. Only 0.5 lb off this week, but I've been eating junk this week with all the fun we've had with the leaking fish tank. Will try harder this week!
M:ore importantly, many happy returns for the big 50, and hope you have a fantastic holiday too.
Hi, I'm new to all this but really need some support. I currently weigh 10st 12lbs and I'm desperate to get back down to 8st 7lbs, so I'm hoping by keeping track it'll help me. My initial weight loss goal is 10st and hopefully keep going thereafter 😊
Support is what we're all about, so you've come to exactly the right place
Well done for sharing your starting weight and goals, that can be a bit of a challenge.
Have you read our welcome newbie thread? It's full of really good tips to get you started, you can find it in the pinned posts section, to the top right of your screen, along with a fantastic recipe thread put together by Lowcal and several fun and motivating challenges.
I hope we'll get to see a lot more of you on the forum and less of you in person. Have a great week
Hi everyone. I just joined on monday weighing 14st 9lbs i need to lose an overall 6 stone but my first goal is a 13st 9. Reading all the posts has shown me i am not the only one. Thanks vicky x
