Morning all welcome old and new members to the Monday weigh in thread, normally posted by Lowcal, but of course she has to take a break sometimes and is jet setting till mid December,so the fab 5 replying to your posts - and one or more of us always will, will be the fab 4 ( minus mop top hairstyles)
They are
RUTH our lovely and dedicated statistician
SUZY don't bother asking her c25k questions she has run a marathon don't you know
MOREORLESS will entertain us all with her wit and wicked sense of humour
And me PRIN short for Princess - delusional as ever
Of course feel free to chip in and support posts, we are all here to climb the weight loss mountain and are at different stages of the journey
Last weeks stats thanks again RUTH

Total people who lost weight: 42 (79.7 pounds lost) (36.2 kilos)
Total people who gained weight: 8 (14.8 pounds gained) (6.7 kilos)

Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 2
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 5
Let's make Lowcal proud when she returns in 3 weeks, my goal was to get below 11st by the time she returns, well I am 11.1 today so 1lb off this week, but of course we have December next week and the start of the Xmas "do's".
It's good to have a great time but I don't want to undo all my good work, and selection is the key - decide what you really want and do a bit of declining- or stay away from the sweetie tins in the office.
Outfits very important this time of year hit the supermarkets and see what they have on offer, sometimes just a sparkly top can give you all the confidence you need, and if it's a size or too smaller than last year so much the better! I put on a lovely lace dress I bought in the sale from Asda, £8 down from 30 last January - during the year it's given me the incentive not to gain weight, nice heels and I am good to go, as you change shape and size what suits you will change too
So lovely ladies and gents share your successes, disappointments, goals and strategies for the up coming season
I am determined to find time for the gym and my exercise classes despite festivities, I do early morning classes- nothing to stop me spinning at 6,45 hoŵever yesterday I fell over having first run 10k so an ice pack on my knee and a rest today catching up with all you lovely people😜

Thank you Princess - and congratulations on your pound loss. A silver tiara for you
For me 3/4 of a pound loss- which i am satisfied with- but feel irritated about the bag of ( low calorie popcorn) and two liquorice whirls I had whilst watching James Bond last night- could have been a whole pound according to scales yesterday. Did all my measurements yesterday - I have lost an inch of each hips, waist and chest- marvellous!!!
Onward - aiming for another pound next week- and end of dry November....
Prin - you mention marathon - whilst i have been off things for a while - I am contemplating another next year....
Good luck to you and everyone else- onward and downward
It's up not down and that's the good news😜 that 1/4 is probably water retention your snacks are very restrained liquorice is good for you. Judging by the tape measure you are just melting away dry months really do make a difference well done you - have a great week!
We'll done this week, I'm sure you will get below 11st. I was 12st 3.73lbs last week now I weigh 11st13.75lbs, that means I lost 4lb this week, which has amazed me! I have had a lot of stress this week so wonder if this accounts for me losing so much, still I am pleased. I have now lost 2st .75lbs in 14 weeks and am amazed that I am still focussed, I feel that this time I can do it and hopefully keep it off as well. December is always a challenge but hopefully I won't gain or at least not much! Good luck everyone.
2 stone WOW! isn't it great when you see those numbers moving down😃 you will keep it off get rid of all the clothes you wore when you were 2 stone heavier IMAGINE having to lug 2 stone around you must feel great - and light! Keep up the good work We wouldn't be human if we didn't gain the odd pound in December ☺️
i this week have lost the 1lb i gained last week so very pleased with myself so back to 10st 9lb. Aim for next week is to lose at least 1lb so good luck all and thanks prin for stepping in for lowcal x
Well done Kars putting ME to shame😳, you are tripping along nicely well done and and I am sure that pound will just melt away ....... Have a great week
Good morning Prin. Just a short post from me today before I shampoo the living room carpet.
Last Monday morning 195.25lbs
This Monday morning 193.25lbs
Loss this week 2lbs.
I've updated my older post to reflect the journey to date, which shows the expected ups and downs. I continue to be below my daily target weight, which is very encouraging. This has mainly been achieved by planning a diet and menu in advance for each week and sticking to it. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
I have no doubt you will reach your target by the time Lowcal comes back and I hope your knee gets better soon.
Great week you are very consistent, what a treat for your carpet and a few calories burnt to boot, commitment is your middle name and we can all learn a lesson from that, enjoy reaping its rewards! Have a geat week
Just thought I'd up date you I washed the oatmeal coloured carpet in the living room and when I went to check to see if it was drying okay, I noticed large pink patches all over it. I washed it again and the pink came off easily. Half hour past and I checked again. Pink patches all over it. I washed it a third time and as I walked out the room, I looked back to see the pink patches again!
I checked the bottom of my shoes and found a great big dollop of pink playdough was dried hard in the tread of my trainers. So I had to wash the carpet again
Don't you just love grandchildren
I think I burnt a lot more calories than I thought I would
I am far too young to be a granny (lies inwardly to herself) but I am sure they must be great fun. Couldn't eat a whole one though, sweet but too many calories 😜
This week I have lost 5 pound I kept in 12 stone Mark over weekend making it so I now weigh 12.10 don't think I will get enough big number next week but if I can lose 2 pound this week I will be happy hope everyone else has done well and good luck this week x
Errrr, 2lb would be a big number lady!, well done on your 5lb loss, are you single handedly trying to smash the stats? 😜 great job on a tremendous week, a while back someone mentioned doing squats while waiting for the kettle to boil, try that for those troublesome legs of yours-have another fab week Emma well done
It's what I do at min my husband finds it funny and he has took a video to embarrass me but it's all fun and in my mind 2 pound is something can achieve another 5 though would be big in just happy even after stressful week I didn't comfort eat which is what I was hoping to achieve through this program x
I hope the video doesn't embarrass you - hope it's in good jest in a way you can both laugh at it - maybe he could join you in some of the exercise too in future though? Or - if you are embarrassed by the video then maybe ask your husband to delete it - he needs to understand how important this is for you. Hope you have another great week
He don't think I need to lose weight so makes it awkward but obviously managing to do it he does it to show what I do with my face as I pull faces when exercising lol
Unfortunately gained 1lb this week so back to 10st 8lb but I know where I have gone wrong. A weekend in Leeds with my daughter with a few drinks, an Italian meal and a lovely afternoon tea! No social events this week so onward and upward and more exercise. Only ran once this last week so I need to increase this but I did do at least 30 minutes walking on 5 days.
That's a tiny gain given all that socialising - so you'll be back on the right side of 10 1/2 stone really soon. I am looking forward to being at 10 1/2 ish stone - in fact that's my goal, so I am envious. Don't be down, you sound as if you are doing really well!
Hi everyone and Good morning to Princess-Prin - you sound good and taking the party season in its stride. I hope you hit your goal next week. No wonder you are enjoying the lacy tops! After your Ascot triumph I cannot imagine you not rocking the Xmas party scenes. Bad news about that fall - rest up and whisper motivational messages to your knee.
I lost a kilo last week - down to 89.5 kgs. Since last month I have lost another inch of my waist (whoop) and half an inch of the butt and I am now definitely a size 16 - down from a size-22 6 months ago.
I take on board your advice about the clothes - I have mainly been throwing them out. I used my tiny available money for new undies and a new swimming costume and this weekend I hit the charity shops.
So I am typing this wearing neat charity shop Levi jeans size 16, a wide black belt from my student days, a shiny black camisole top and over it a gorgeous raspberry colored off shoulder midriff length loose knit jumper that I bought from a fair trade shop 7 years ago because I loved the color but never felt confident to wear until now.
Crazy busy week ahead, can't wait.
Thanks for all five of you for this great thread. Looking forward to reading everyone's posts later tonight.
Hi Gonti - well done you are doing so well. Look at that dress size drop! I think someone may be having fun in the Christmas sales...?! Quite agree about the clothes clearing out - I have made that mistake before and then "grown back into" things. As I am far too old to be growing into things, this was not good!
Your new wardrobe sounds lovely - I am sitting here cosily in one of my charity shop cashmere jumpers! Love a bargain.
Gonti that outfit sounds fabulous! I am smiling at your confidence go girl! Dig out a size 22 photo and see how far you have come! Under 90kgs great job, strut youe stuff and have a great week😍
Wow - that's dress size decrease is amazing in 6 months - you must be feeling so pleased - well done
Hi Prin, Good morning everyone!
It must be very nice to be in shouting distance of 11st, very well done. I hope the week ahead goes well. You are right about the Christmas dos - I thought at one point I was going to end up with two on one day, then fortunately one of the dates got changed. I think I'll be getting through with a bit of intermittent fasting to make sure those days aren't a disaster, plus some careful choosing / reducing too.
For me it's week 9
11st 10lb last week. 11st 7lb this week.
3lb down.
Total lost so far: 1st 1.5 lbs.
Favourite bit so far: Not feeling quite so blobby when sitting next to my trim sister at a family weekend away!
Aiming to lose about 2st and started at 12st 8 1/2.
It’s been a strange week, I accepted a new job but my resignation caused a bit of surprise in the organisation and some emotional trauma (mostly not mine!) followed. In short I ended up leaving work on Friday (I’ve got loads of leave to use up). I’ve been exceptionally busy and not feeling like eating very much, so, in spite of a birthday party and a weekend away, the scales are still with me. Now the real test starts – home alone in the kitchen in the run up to Christmas!!! To be realistic I'll be very happy if I just hold steady this week coming.
Thank you for the nice comments! Still got a stone to go (approx.!) and need to do lots about "fitness", but I'm pleased to be feeling back in the driving seat of my life I have to say. Work's been sub-optimal for a while and it feels good to be looking ahead to a new year with a different set of work hassles!
It was also nice to be able to fit into my interview outfit - and not to have to buy a new one!
I also know I've lost "the easy stone" - that last one is a always twice as hard as the one before I've found.... (not that I've been here before you understand...!). No room for complacency!
I think a clean sweep is a great way to go. Throw away all the old habits and form new and better ones.
No stones are easy to lose, they all take commitment, so don't do yourself down. You'll shed that second one with the same determination as you tackled the first and will find an exercise programme that you'll enjoy and will help
• in reply to
I didn't find my second stone any harder, I think your main enemy is impatience. Just keep celebrating every pound lost along the way, be patient, it all comes together in the end
• in reply to
Thanks Ruth, and hope you are right! The last time I lost 2 stone the last stone was tortuous - left me desperate to eat a whole list of not very helpful things. My head seems to be in a better place this time though, so fingers crossed!
Running soon, what a week for you, like many this week you seem super confident, good luck in your new job, but I agree being home alone can be a challenge.
I know exactly what you mean I have a teeny tiny sister, I must say it was great at her 50th this year as her monsoon dress was an 8 and mine a 10!, she has always been tiny and very disciplined, some of her work collegues said - well it's alright for you two as if to say we were magically thin, little do they know nothing gets handed down on a plate!
I don't know why I keep buying all these xmas treats who am I kidding? Off to work with them me thinks! Have a great week
Thank you Prin. That's ironic- there you are slogging away and immediately everyone else assumes you and your skinny sister are effortlessly thin together!
My sister actually enjoys exercise .... not a problem I've ever really had! (My horrendous school PE lessons would have been enough to put Jessica Ennis off the concept in my opinion!)
Hope the work colleagues eat up all the treats and you can keep that sister on her toes!
I am the happily mediocre sister, my sister has to succeed at everything she does me, I am happy to plod along, she started running a few years ago 2010? Having run berlin marathon in a little (1 minute) over 4 hours, she ran Chicago a few weeks ago in 3:45! I didn't take up running till 2 years ago 😁 now she and my son are wanting me to run Paris in 4 hrs! Never done a marathon before and I am very scared. And yes my sister has decided to run it too! ( just popping over from barbados)
I didn't post last week but in the last 2 weeks I've put on 1.5 kg! How is that even possible! It certainly doesn't come off that easily Sorry to mess up the figures.
I am cycling to the physio, not driving!!
• in reply to
If you are even thinking of cycling today (darned cold in these 'ere parts!) - then I have a feeling you are the determined type and that 1.5 kg is going back where it belongs very shortly! Find your gloves though!
• in reply to
Hi Ceriandblue - don't panic! You're not messing up the figures. So far we haven't had a week where the gains came anywhere near to the losses, and I'm sure you have more losses than gains yourself too. You must have an inkling of how that 1.5kg crept back on. Just the fact you're suggesting cycling to the physio shows you suspect you didn't do enough exercise. I'm also still cycling even now it's so cold, and it can actually be quite warming as the exercise warms your body up as you cycle along. But be careful of hidden ice under leaves or just plain invisible black ice, and wrap up warm round the edges - thick gloves, socks, scarf and something to cover the ears. Good luck for this week
• in reply to
Thanks for the advice. Yes, I know where the weight came from - cakes, cheese, biscuits! It's true that I haven't been as active with this knee problem but soon as there's a little set back my go to is still to binge. Frustrated with myself!
• in reply to
Sounds familiar! Maybe surround yourself with food that's less of a trigger, and less harmful to overload on - melon, homemade popcorn, lots of cups of tea - and try to keep any cakes etc frozen in portion sizes - only take out one piece for when you plan to have it. Just keep trying all the strategies you can. And enjoy your ride - I'm assuming cycling is fine with your knee? If so, maybe a few rides, nothing too long, don't overdo it, but maybe that will get the gremlin out of your head that's telling you you're not able to exercise at the moment? Good luck
Many thanks to the fab 4 for keeping the thread going in Lowcals abscence, the dedication and support from you guys is incredible and certainly helps to keep me on track (usually!).
I have gained 0.5 lb this week but to be honest I have had 3 meals out, all with wine and understand that I cannot expect to lose weight under these circumstances. I'm going out next Saturday to celebrate my birthday and Sunday is my granddaughters birthday party so this weekend is going to be a bit of a challenge too. My plan to try to counteract the damage over the weekend is to be really strict Monday - Friday and stay within my calorie limits for 5 days.
Exercise goals this week, pilates, 1 kettlebell session and 2 cross-trainer sessions it would be nice to report a loss of 1 lb next Monday but realistically I would be happy to maintain.
I hope your knee heals quickly Prin, ice and rest sounds like a good plan.
Happy birthday in advance mrsg3 Such a small gain with all those meals out is probably worth celebrating rather than lamenting. It shows you successfully compensated elsewhere, perhaps on other days, through exercise, or made some healthy choices when you ate out. The fact you intend to do the same this week shows your determination. Maybe upping your exercise a tiny bit will help make the difference. Hope you achieve those exercise goals and manage to stick within your cal limits Mon-Fri
Maybe I'll try to increase the intensity on the cross-trainer, the fact that it is in the garage which also houses our wine racks should give me that extra focus. Have a good week.
Just a tiny bit - don't go mad though - I know what you can mean sometimes by 'upping intensity'! Also, don't spend the whole time deciding which wine to have with your dinner...
This is such a difficult time of the year to keep to the straight and narrow, isn't it mrsg. So many social events to deal with on the lead up to Christmas.
To be honest, I think to only have gained 0.5lb is admirable in the circumstances
You've got a great plan to be strict Monday to Friday before yours and your granddaughter's birthdays and some great exercise goals, so I'm sure you'll manage to at least maintain, if not lose that pesky half pound
Have a great week and happy birthday to you and your granddaughter
You're so right about this time of year being busy with social events and having a birthday that falls at the end of November just adds an extra night out.
I'm not disheartened about the 0.5 lb, I try to be realistic and keep asking myself where my weight would have been if I hadn't found the NHS plan and all of you lovely people that help to keep me motivated.
Mrs g life is for living, and you are right we just have to balance it out, your exercise for this week looks pretty intense, so enjoy your birthday and your granddaughters too, all tracks are uneven and this thread holds me accountable too mainly on the straight and narrowish😜have a good week
I'm looking forward to a family meal on Saturday and my granddaughters birthday party on Sunday. We share the same birthday which is lovely but does mean double the challenge in terms of sticking to the plan.
I'll re-assess the damage next Monday and then start the countdown to my holiday on 30th Dec, it's a big ask but I'd like to lose a few more lbs before then.
Well done on your 1lb loss - you will see the 10's next week I'm sure!
I have lost 1.6lbs this week - yay! I'm very pleased with this as my boyfriend did all the cooking yesterday - french toast for breakfast and then stuffed pasta with truffle cheese sauce for dinner - thought I was going to see a gain after that!
Goal is to lose 1lb next week (visiting a Christmas market this Saturday so want to be realistic!)
Your Bf sounds amazing, fine dining and a loss to boot! Enjoy the xmas market-my tipple is hot love, mulled wine with a shot of rum! Have a great week and here's to December!
Hi Prin and well done on your weight loss this week. Your so close to the 10's which is brilliant and I hope you manage to get into the 10's very soon. I am 11.4 and hope to lose 2 lbs this week which will bring me to a 6 st loss. I managed to lose 3 lbs this week and hope to get into the 10's by Christmas. This will be my ultimate goal for 2015 so I am going to watch and plan everything leading up to the big day and keep up with all the exercises. I hope your knee gets better real soon and take things easy
6 stones the weight of a child - good job! Are you up for posting your before and after yet you deserve praise and accolades for that incredible loss, I am sure you will reach your goal and well deserved it is too! Have another successful week😀
Thank you Prin, yes I have lost more weight than my 8 yr old weighs LOL I am up for posting a pic, but it won't go through for some reason it may just have to be one of me now. I will get round to this very soon.
This week I am determined to lose another 2 lbs so need to stay focused and plan everything
Hope you also have a successful week Prin and that your injury mends its self very soon
Well done, 3lbs is a really good result, you've had such a successful year on the weight loss front, 6 stone is so impressive! I'm just a couple of pounds away from having lost 3 stone since end of March and I feel pretty good about that, but 6 stone...wow!
Thank you Jenever, I have really embraced all of the changes and now these are all just a part of my life to live this way. You have also had amazing results on your journey almost losing 3 st it's been an absolute blessing to have found this site as it has tout me so much and I have met some wonderful supportive people along the way.
Hey PP - that's amazing - you've got to feel good about finally seeing a loss, and as you know, slow, small losses are ace as they're more sustainable. That's 2.5 packets of butter discarded for good, no matter if the numbers on the new scales may fool you into thinking that weight has gone back on. Good luck for another slow, steady and determined week
Good morning Prin and everyone. Sorry to hear you're injured today Prin - I like to think of you racing to spin class at the crack of dawn on Mondays but I guess sometimes even you need a break too, especially after running a 10k! Congrats on your 1lb loss, and for feeling great in that lacy dress
I'm still maintaining at my goal weight. I've lost 2lb this week to 10st2, but seeing as last week I gained 2lb, this seems like just a natural fluctuation. It means I'm still within my maintaining range of 10st0 to 10st7, and still feeling confident that I'm doing all the right things to stay there
Wow Ruth you are definitely doing amazing maintaining your weight between 10 st and 10.7. Once I reach my maintenance weight I hope to do exactly the same as you. You are such an inspiration and well done on your loss of 2 lbs this week
Thanks Trafford1. After two weeks of 'gaining' I was sure I couldn't 'gain' anymore. I feel confident about staying at goal now, but there can still be quite a lot of fluctuation. I think it's good to be prepared for that. I didn't do much that was different this week, although I made sure I kept to my exercise goals. You'll be at goal very soon too and I'm sure you'll feel exactly the same - confident and cautious at the same time
The clothes are the ultimate proof aren't they. Every time I put on my size 12 clothes I feel so great. Some old size 10s have come back into circulation now too, as my 12s feel loose sometimes. Can't believe it half the time
I love my size more than I love my weight, get you skinny Minnie! You are a great inspiration ruth, hell would freeze over before I bought anything in size 14 now, I love to get 8's you know the ones they don't size properly.........
I'm with you about not buying size 14s! I even had reservations about buying size large slippers this week, but as my feet are size 7 I guess I can't really change that!
I'm sure it won't! Not with your sharp wit You'll keep meeting people along your journey Moreless and what's more people are already gaining inspiration from you. I'm not going anywhere soon, but can't guarantee I'll be here a couple of years, although nearly one year has passed already...
• in reply to
Well done Ruth - you sound like you are well within your weight range and managing to maintain really nicely
Morning all! Love your post Prin, and thanks for keeping us going!
Quick post before school run as soooo excited, as lost 3lbs this week, which makes total loss of 4 stone!! Can't believe it. Think gym review has helped, ( not sure about knees with it yet ).
Now weigh 12stone 1.5 lb, aiming for 11.11, for healthy bmi. Would love to be there in 2weeks, before Christmas outings begin. Know this will be a struggle as apart from this week, progress lately been slow!.
A 3lb loss is fantastic Vickster and you're so close to your healthy BMI! I'm sure with a bit of determination, you could reach it before your Christmas outings, but beware of letting things slip when the G & T's call
Hi everyone I've lost another 2lbs which I'm really pleased with despite always being just a little over my daily calorie allowance. I do walk my dogs everyday for at least an hour so that's probably compensating. My goal this week is to keep within my 1400 allowance and do exercise everyday. 👯👯🙋🏻🙋🏻
If you can lose 2lb by going over your calorie allowance Florence, then I think you probably need those calories. Don't bother trying to reduce them now when things are going well, because there may be a time in the future where it becomes necessary.
Great goal for the exercising though, walking is highly underestimated. Your dogs must be loving this keen mum
Your post really made me smile this morning, keep up the good work!
Congrats on losing a pound this week and yes I'm sure you'll reach your aim by the time Lowcal is back.
I weighed 80.3 this morning compared to 80.6 last week. So I have lost 300 grams, less than a pound.... To be honest I was hoping for more as last week I only lost 100 grams and I was hoping this week would be one of those big loss weeks after a maintaining week. But I think I am still unsure what "diet" to follow and this must have played a part I think....
However on the bright side I have reported a loss, however minor, every single Monday in a row for 12 weeks, so I am happy with that. Also I started this journey at 196 lbs and I am now at 177lbs. That's a 19lbs loss, I am very happy with that. I am going to start a new 12 week cycle as even though I'm out of the obese zone I still have to lose another 10kgs to enter the healthy range, and 10more to get in the middle of that range!!!
Oh and I graduated from the Couch to 5k programme last week :).
My immediate aim is to get under 80kg by December 17th as I am travelling then. It's totally feasible as it is only 300 grams away lol but I keep my aims realistic as sometimes I only lose 100grams per week and it is about three weeks away!!
Nussaybah! Congratulations! 19lbs in 12 weeks is terrific! and you've never had a stick, or a gain and you're out of the obese zone. You should be so proud of yourself
I'm sure that when you sort out which "diet" you're going to follow, things will start to pick up even more and you'll smash that very conservative 300g goal
You've graduated from couch to 5K too - there's just no stopping you! You rock!
Thank you so much for your enthusiasm Moreless, it's such a pleasure to read you!! This morning I was already 79.9kg lol but I am not holding my breath as I only ever take into account the Monday weigh in now hehe.
Yes I do feel on a roll and I do feel determined to get out of the overweight zone too!!
Congrats to you on this week's loss! You are doing so well too!
You know as long as its a downward trend that's all that matters and those 19lbs are a testament to that, and extra congratulations for completing c25k. It's grand just to be overweight 😉 I am always at the top end of heathy for my Bmi, after dry November last year I dropped to 10st 6 and didn't like the way I looked, xmas put paid to that though! Have a great week continue with those little goals and you will know when you get there 😜
Thank you for your advice. I feel like it is only now that I am getting the whole point behind the little goals and the little weekly celebrations. If someone had said to me 12 weeks ago I would have lost 10kgs in that amount of time I would have laughed at their face! But somehow, little by little, only focusing on losing a pound or two per week and reporting on Monday, it HAS happened. Unbelievable!
Like Prin, I'm staying at top end of my BMI, my height is 5'4" and I don't plan to go below 10stone. So maybe re-evaluate your goals as you get nearer to the 'healthy' zone. In the meantime - 19lbs in 12 weeks is ace - that's the same loss I got in 12 weeks too. I think your body may be adapting to the increased fitness you've gained from learning to run, as well as the low carb diet you've been following. If the overall result is slow and steady loss then I don't think you're going wrong at all, if anything this means it's more sustainable. It sounds like you have a very good grip on the weight loss process overall. Wishing you lots of luck for making your mid-December goal, as well as for losing the next 10kg
Thank you Ruth this , as well as Prin's comments, is helping me a lot. I assumed my aim would be the middle of that range, but now I can see I might have to reassess that. I might even be *forced* to after my holidays!! I have not seen my other half since I started this diet and I have not informed him. By the time we meet again mid December (hence my big deadline!!) he might be like "what?" lol, where is this heading?
At the moment, being overweight still is a concern for me so I will push to get out of that and then as you said I will see what's best. Can't wait! It seems surreal I could achieve another 10kg. Just surreal. But now that I have done it once I feel like "well, I might actually be able to do it again!!". Unbelievable.
Don't forget the new outfit! buy something that makes you feel good, doesn't have to be expensive, remember hopefully it won't be fitting you for to long! I bought stuff from Asda on my way down sizing, and I now I am stable I buy quite a lot in their sales, it's not what you wear it's how you wear it! Plus those days of buying things and routinly keeping them for 10 years are gone knock him dead!
This week I gained 0.6 kgs or just over a pound! This is hardly surprising as I had 2 festive occasions to contend with. First one was a lovely girls night out with tapas, sangria etc. So I managed to resist the churros and hot chocolate in the end of the meal! But the night after, during a big extended family reunion I didnt manage to resist the profiteroles. There was alcohol as well...
So I feel good that I didn't gain more. Next week we have only one big night so hopefully I will manage to lose some weight this week.
I think a 0.6kg gain after so many temptations is very well done on your part. As I've said before, this time of the year is a real struggle. We can only do the best we can, we're only human after all
Hey all congratulations to everyone who's sticking at their new way of life,
So that's week 4 of the weightloss completed now
Starting weight = 123.2kg
Week 1 = 117.8kg
Week 2 = 116.0kg
Week 3 = 114.6kg
Week 4 = 113.1kg
So a loss of 1.5kg for me this week
Still unfortunately not managed to do any exercise but still planning to start either this week or next week with the goal of half marathon in Edinburgh in May
Once again aiming for 1kg loss this week
If you fall off the wagon one day get up dust yourself off and start again the next
Wow. Have you lost in 4 weeks what I have lost in 12? ! May I ask what you are doing?? Really impressed. I have 3-4 weeks before an important travel where I need to impress (lol), if I could take a page off your book I'd be very happy!!
Hey, nothing special I'm afraid, wake up at 6am breakfast of 3 weetabix about 7,cup of black coffee about 0930hrs then lunch between 1100-1330hrs usually been either Piri Piri chicken or sushi then my dinner anytime between 1630-2100hrs then bed about 2200hrs
Not done any exercise yet but gonna start soon you can add me on my fitness pal if u want to ask more questions lol
Morning all. Last week I weighed 222lbs and this week I weigh 222.2lbs. Had a less then perfect weekend food wise and mother nature has come a knocking so a little weight gain is to be expected I suppose.
Hi Prin, Ruth, Suzy & Moreless, hope you're all well.
Well done on your losses especially my mentor (or rather tormentor) Prin lol!!) Great stuff and of course you know that you can make under the 11's.......you can can't you???
Well last week I was 12st 5lbs and this week 12st 2.5lbs so 2.5 lbs down. It also takes me back into the over six stone weight loss which is wonderful. Now my next goal is to get below the 12's which would be a whole new time low for me. Before my husband came home I only made 12st 1.5 lbs so quite exciting. However this week just might not be it. Meeting a friend in London tomorrow for coffee & cake at the Sky Garden and then lunch at Hotel Chocolat.....how the hell do I do "I must be good" on that lot???? I guess I just have be the model weight watcher for the remainder of the week ha ha!
Oh crumbs Candystripe, you do like a challenge, don't you
You've done so remarkably well to get to where you are, that the odd treat should be embraced. Life is not about individual days, or weeks, but years (God willing), so these little indulgences just fade away into the ether
By the time your husband comes back again, you'll be comfortably ensconced in the 11's and looking towards the 10's
Enjoy the Sky Garden and Hotel Chocolat and to hell with the consequences!
tell me how the sky garden is - its on my list of things to do. well done at removing your holiday weight so rapidly, its that "we are on it" mode that keeps us on the straight and narrow. before when i put holiday weight on it was a feeling of that's it and I would just let weight creep back on - but no more! we are recovering people thats all, not cured (pickled in alcohol in my case) enjoy your week and the visits hotel chocolate mmm xmas comes early for candystripe!!! ps don't forget to visit Desigual if you go down regent street!
Thanks Prin, I shall try to be good lol , but we all need a little something to cheer us up. Not sure if we'll have time for the Desigual store between food but shall bear it in mind.
The Sky Garden is amazing & definitely has the wow factor for the panoramic view over London & the green stuff that they managed to get up so high. It's incredible.
The hotel Chocolat is also an experience. My starter I had Yorkshire pud with chocolate flavoured beef, white choc mash & choc gravy, followed by a cheeseburger with choc nibs. You know Prin, it was OK but the brain was telling me it just wasn't right! The dessert was damned excellent tho!!!
Went to my face store but decided that £99 for a pair of jeans wasn't quite right at this time. Did I get a size 14 that I am now and then slim out of them vir get a 12 that might not be the right shape when I get there? Decided that could always go again when I reach my target. Also went to Hamlets & Liberty. Had a fab day. X
I thought I had replied to this, I unders the first post, Iwas saying how small their sizes are funeral coat is size 14 as you need to wrap up for the graveside, signature coat a 12' both from Amazon, on selected items you get free delivery and returns so they are worth looking at signature coat was only about £70
Hey CS - no mention of the personal trainer and potential 5k running - is any of this still happening? If not - all the more respect for such an epic loss and getting back to where you were - amazing to know you have definitely got that 6 stone loss under your belt!
Sadly my PT found an advancement position which was full time so now looking around for someone new. Just when I was really getting into it. Asked around but I will persue it now after Xmas when people aren't so busy. My resolution for the New Year perhaps, to crack this running thing! Still do the gym three times a week though so not slacking!!!
Ah - I wondered what happened there - great you're still going to the gym though. New Year is a good time to get a deal as there's loads of fitness promotions around that time of year - would you still look for someone joint with your neighbour again? I thought that sounded like a really good idea. There's always c25k when you're ready to try that too of course... Hope you have a good week too
Inspiring stories and great support... if I want to join in I just go ahead and post? Or is there anything else I should do (except healthy eating, moving etc...)
This morning I weighed in at 99.9 kg... Just under the magic 100, and aim to lose 15-20kg in the long run. One day at a time... Christmas won't help with all the sweeties, as well as the weather not being so conducive to cycling
Hope weighing in Mondays will help keep me on track.
Well done for reporting your starting weight, it's not always an easy thing to do and from here on in, you can start reporting your losses - it helps to remain positive
Good luck for your long terms goals, but baby steps to start with, slow and steady wins the race
Sweeties are a problem, as well as all the other Christmas goodies
How about getting a stand for your bike, so that it can become an exercise bike when the weather's inclement?
Weighing in here is an excellent way to keep you motivated and on track and we'll look forward to hearing all about how your first week has gone
Welcome Dulila - good luck - one day at a time is a great attitude and now's a great time to start your weight loss journey - you'll have a head start on all those new years resolutions folk. The weather might not be so conducive to cycling but it's not impossible. Get your kit sorted - waterproofs, good gloves, lots of high-viz stuff etc, and allow yourself extra time if you're commuting and always take a clean pair of socks in case your feet get wet. The roads are full of cyclists in the winter so why not join them. Although I must admit on truly torrential days it's really only very very mad people out there.
1lb is great and you seem very determined! im sure the dress and heels will look fab!
I have lost 1lb this week (it might be 1.5 but my digital scales don't show halves and it kept flicking between 13:10 and 13:11 but ill take just the 1lb since I cant confirm it!)
im finding it hard this week as im very stressed with work and working very long hours to fit it all in before I go away for xmas! and if im stressed I eat more! anyway im still sticking to my cal range which is reflected in the loss! I hope to have a stress free weekend next weekend so I can go to the gym and hit the cross trainer (physio has allowed me to use one due to the low impact on my ankle! wooo)
so this is week 9? so in 8 weeks I have went from 15st to 13:11st - so happy with that - only 6-7 more lbs before I am in the overweight range!
You take the pound and be proud of it hydrogirl, especially with the amount of stress you've been dealing with. Stress can play havoc with weight loss, so you've done doubly well
Oh my gosh, to go from the 15's to the 13's in 8 weeks is incredible, you must feel like a million dollars!
Have fun at the gym next week, but don't go nuts, you don't want to make that ankle worse.
So glad you could make it and well done you for telling us your starting weight, I know it was really hard for me, I hope it wasn't as hard for you
It sounds as if you're off to a good start with your meals and walking. Are you going to try the NHS 12 week plan and have you checked your BMI, healthy weight range and recommended number of calorie allowance/day? If you want to do all these things, follow this link and you'll find heaps of helpful advice
My top tip stay with us and weigh in nomatter what, don't let the weight own you, set yourself mini goals under 24 that's onl 4 lbs away, or down to the next BMI point? Good luck and see you next week
Morning all you lovely people. Congratulations on some stupendous losses - I am well jell. Prin - what a motivational post for a Monday morning, thank you! Well guys, I did it!!!!
Last week I weighed 17.00.6, this morning I weigh 16.13.6! I got into the 16s!!! I am one very happy Jiggly and almost feel I don't deserve it because I well and truly lost the plot yesterday - you know it's not going to end well when you start the day with 2 freshly baked pain au chocolat which account for 1/3 of your daily calorie allowance! Still today is another day and firmly back on the diet waggon.
Prin, I also know what you mean about clothes, got a faux sheepskin jacket out of the wardrobe for my chilly shopping trip yesterday. Before I could never wear a jumper under it because it was too tight in the arms and across the back, yesterday wore it with t-shirt and jumper with room to spare!
Also did a measure this morning - another half inch off waist and hips. So I've lost just over a stone since I started the NHS plan in mid-August, and 1 1/2 stones since I started doing Couch25K in May.
Hope you all have an easy successful week. Stay warm!
Oh wow Prin you lost a lb fab! Now I am 13.4 which means I gained 4 lbs in 2 weeks as I was away fora week. So exciting! Well I am off to my walks as the weather is dry and no more eating all these rolls for breakfast which I am cutting out due to my thrush and off to eating more fruits and veggie. next week I hope to loose at least 1 lb if not more.
Bad luck with the 4lb gain, but I'm sure your week away made it all worthwhile. At least your gain only counts for 2lbs/week, which doesn't sound as bad
Thrush is horrible, so yes, steer clear of the rolls - fruit and veggies all the way
Enjoy your walk and here's to at least a 1lb loss this week
Good morning Prin, Ruth, Suzy and all my fellow losers
Here we are at another magnificent Monday and each of us with a story to tell. Prin, I can't believe you fell and hurt your knee after such a good week and worse than that, you can't make your spin class! I hope you don't go into withdrawal Hope it feels better soon and you're able to get right back on track
There have been some fantastic losses posted today and I'd like to join all you other losers by declaring my own 1.625lb loss I'm now 2.25lbs away from having lost 2st, so that's my goal for next week, which will also be my week 12 weigh-in
have you only been here 12 weeks you are part of the furniture - well done - back on the net book now i have manage to change the display back to portrait I am hoping my knee feels well enough for evening spin- fingers crossed well done on your loss fab result looking forward to your 2stone loss before the boss lady gets back!
Brilliant moreless - all those kms kicked have been making a difference. And nearly 2 st already That's a great result, you must be really noticing the difference now with your clothes !!
Okay moreless - I have detected a tone of putting yourself down again and suggesting there's no visible change and I'm going to challenge you! Having almost lost 2 stone it's time to go shopping. You can go shopping in two ways. 1 - try to properly find some clothes that fit you - you may be pleasantly surprised - try some things on - maybe try sizes you don't expect to fit, you may find you've significantly lost weight on the top half or bottom half - worth checking where you're at I reckon. 2 - do all the other stuff - look for earrings, a new necklace, get your hair done, new shoes, great accessories basically. It's got to start being possible to see yourself as more than a perambulating tent after losing 2 stone! I agree with Lucca that there must be some difference in your clothes by now - some new threads are definitely in order
I think it's possible I may have gone down a size Ruth, as I now fit into a pair of size 24 jeans, however, as I was bemoaning to Sueper, I appear to have a dearth of 24's in my wardrobe. I must have done a big jump in sizes and didn't have time to buy anything. I did have a great find of 22's though, 3 Tshirts, 2 blouses and a pair of trousers, all with their labels still on I wonder how much weight I'll need to lose in order to fit into them. It's a great incentive
Can you just, without breaking the bank, stock up on a few 24s then? Sainsbury's, Matalan, whatever's nearest to you? It's great you have the 22s to look forward to as well though. I think it's about 1 or 1.5 stone per clothing size, but the weight doesn't necessarily come off evenly, especially if you're doing loads of exercise. So maybe keep those 22s handy for trying on every now and then, you may fit them sooner than you expect
I meant to say - it's great about fitting into the smaller jeans too
I have to admit to surreptitiously looking at 24's on line and have even found a couple of Christmassy tops. I'm struggling to find any trousers that aren't skinny fit though and they are not a good look when you've got legs like mine I'm not good at buying clothes for myself. It's something I find really traumatic and very depressing. It somehow highlights all the negative feelings I harbour about myself. I'm working on it though
I'm still working on it to be honest too. I think skinny jeans just only suit a certain proportion of people and I'm not one of them - bootcut all the way! Hope you succeed with the issues and have many enjoyable shopping experiences to look forward to
That's a fantastic result moreless, well done you!! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you reach your 2 st target next week, what an achievement that will be.
Just had a quick read through everyone's weekly results, I so enjoy being part of this group, to know others are experiencing the same highs and lows as me and learning how you all deal with the lows is strangely comforting...thank you all.
Well I managed to lose 1lb 8oz this week, I was hoping for a bit more but will try harder next week, there's only 4 more weigh in Mondays' before Christmas and last week I decided I wanted to lose 1/2 stone before Christmas so I have another 5lbs 8oz to lose.
Mr. J joined me on my weight loss mission a couple of weeks ago, he went off to work today absolutely delighted because he shed 2lbs 10oz last week, he's got so into this healthy eating lark, he's worse than me at reading all the food labels when we go shopping!
loving your two for the price of one - well for stats purposes anyway its great doing things together but only when we can come out on top! well done on your collective losses and i am sure Mr J will help you achieve your goal looking forward to hearing about your journey next week
Morning Prin - sorry to hear about your knee Hope it makes a speedy recovery and you get back to that gym-busting routine !
Well, not a great week for me - I have put on 1 lb and am back up to 172.8lbs. The start of the week was going well and I had lost a bit, I enjoyed my birthday meal and had some cake - and to be honest wasn't too concerned about over eating, as was hoping to get straight back to the healthy eating over the weekend. But...had a very bad weekend, stress about some work, feeling under the weather with a sore throat, time of the month etc. None of that would be too bad, but I was cross with myself as I was really going back to bad habits of bingeing on chocolate, cakes etc.
Anyway, woke up this morning and told myself that if that's the first time I've properly fallen off the wagon in a whole 16 weeks, then I'm not doing too badly - went out for a 5k run despite not really feeling like it, and am feeling back in the groove Now if I could just stop shouting at everyone, that would be perfect
Lucca! I've missed you this week. I hoped you were absent because of your birthday, not because you were having a crappy week!
I'm gutted to hear that everything piled in on you at the weekend and that you TEMPORARILY slipped back into your old ways (I can shout too ) However, like the real trooper you've proved yourself to be over the past 16 weeks, you've dragged yourself up by the bootstraps and are now firmly aboard the band wagon again You've even been out for a 5K run! WTG you!
Don't worry about that flippin' pound gain, it'll soon be smashed
I've got my ear defenders on, so if you feel like yelling to let off steam, it won't bother me in the slightest
Hope you have a great week and can kick all this rubbish into the bin where it belongs
The highlight of my week was having my drunken old man neighbour sitting on my couch singing navy songs at me whilst waiting for his carer to turn up because he'd locked himself out his house !! Not what you need when you are desperately trying to meet a work deadline !!
Anyway, I'm blaming the work stress on hormones, the over eating on the work stress - so hopefully they will both disappear this week. I just felt like I was going into sabotage mode - and it wasn't even with a nice meal - had a chinese takeway which I really didn't enjoy, and just munched on chocolate and doughnuts, which made me feel sick - what a silly thing to do
WELL DONE my turn to shout we all have our ups and downs if it were just ups it wouldn't be real life would it? its about getting back on to the wagon - which you have done and are sticking two fingers up to last weeks slip up it took me a month to lose my birthday weight 5k in this cold I am impressed! continue to have a good week and look forward to some great results next week
Luckily I live on the 'English Riviera' (ha ha ! - who ever came up with that name !!) so our 'freezing cold' is probably only uncomfortably mild for most people !!
Sorry to hear that you've had a stressful time. 1 lb is only a tiny gain and you're obviously back to being focussed and determined. I think doing exercise when you could happily make up 101 reasons why not to bother shows your strength of character. I hope you have a less stressful week and turn that tiny gain around by Monday, good luck.
Thanks mrsg - I've been feeling better yesterday and today, and back on track
• in reply to
Belated birthday wishes Lucca! Hope the sore throat, hormones, grumpiness, stress and SHOUTING all disappear asap, as well as that unwelcome lb. I'm sure it's actually 2lbs of hormonal water retention masking a miraculous despite birthday, takeaway and doughnuts 1lb loss. Hope you have a much better week this week
This week the scales were not as kind as last week im on week two and have lost 1lb this week (5lbs last week) but its erm...thats time of the month so i'm hoping to see a little bit more of next week.
My body is the most frustrating thing ever; I can jump, scream, run, sweat, eat nothing all week or eat cake all week and when I step on the scales, nothing changes.
I stand there with anticipation as the numbers fly all over the place before finally settling and I swear I can hear my body laughing at me when I eventually see that I have stayed the same.
On the plus side I have kept up with my 30min/30day challenge and I am on my final week, no surprises that nothing has changed externally, but I am hoping my internal functions are a little grateful for the effort and the added fresh air.
I started reading this book called 'the calorie myth' and, apart from being amazed at how a book can be written & published by simply saying the same thing 100 different ways, 100 different times, there were some useful points to absorb.
Key points being:
1) The body can process a lot of calories and therefore calorie counting should not be the main priority, the priority should be the source and quality of the calorie
2) Losing weight & sustaining the loss is only possible by re-setting the body's set point - by eating what the body is designed to process (natural sources of food and not man-made products)
I am sure I mentioned before that I would embark on a meat and veg diet, but it just feels so incomplete, I keep thinking a bit of brown rice, soba noodles or bulgur will be ok but apparently not.
Anyway it's Christmas soon, so my plan is to just continue maintaining because I am definitely not spending the holiday pining for ice cream & Christmas cake, the effort to resist will just age me & probably make me more feral if I taste or smell something 'forbidden.'
From January - typical new years resolution - I will resign to becoming part cow, part rodent, part human and consume a mix of greens, nuts, seeds & meat.
Hopefully I don't find myself at the end of 2016 moaning that I am still 14 stone 9 or worse, heavier! (unless the heavier is a result of a chiseled body from hours of reading pop sugar's exercise tips)
I'm grinning from ear to ear at your post, you have such a fantastic way with words
I'm not grinning about your maintain, because I know you're really disappointed. It does seem hellishly unfair not to be rewarded on the scales when we've worked so hard, but I'm sure your internal workings are more than grateful for all the healthy nutrients and fresh air you've been feeding them
Have you lost any inches anywhere? Sometimes a loss can be measured in inches even if not in lbs.
You have to make your own decision about which foods you eat, but maybe some low GI carbs would be perfectly acceptable for you eg brown rice, oats etc and then you wouldn't feel so deprived. I'm thinking of Eve and the forbidden fruit
Work hard up til Christmas, then relax a little and enjoy yourself. January will arrive come what may and we'll all have to get back on the band wagon.
well done lizzie its not all about loosing especially weeks like yours when you are part of a social scene, but about looking just to keep your eye on the ball which you have done so that's great news. no point thinking we are never going to eat cake again, or go out and enjoy ourselves that would be just silly (and unsustainable)
Well done with your 3lb loss and good luck with your training and diet plan
1.25lbs lost and that's despite having 2 'non diet' days at the weekend! Just starting week 8. I'm just 1.5 lbs away from hitting the magic 8 stone. Hoping to achieve this in 2 weeks. Good luck to everyone weighing in today.
loving this post I am thinking out loud (always a bad idea) that maybe xmas week say 27th rather than do a what I lost this week do a total weight lost so far I just feel some of these figures are incredible and totally inspirational - you are right hitting 8 stone would be magical
I still made sensible choices on my non-diet days, but thought it would be nigh-on impossible to second guess calories for meals I hadn't prepared myself, so thought I'd treat it as a mini holiday. And the weekend involved a lot of walking, so I assumed I walked off any mini treats (hot choc to keep out the cold).
I think the 7lbs was partially due to empty stomach etc. I struggle with bloating a lot and that can make my weight go up and down, this morning was jsut a down day. I think realistically I probably lost 1lb of actual body fat/whatever weight.
My weight goes up and down like a yoyo, on a day to day basis too, but it all evens out over the week and what we're aiming for is a downward trend in the larger picture
Hi I am new can I join not Sure?? If this is the link to get in on "the Weighing" lost9 lbs since starting weigh 14st 2lbs .today..
Hi Prin, I'm 13.0.1 this week and waist is 41" putting my best foot forward. Ate a lot of salmon this week and cauliflower rice, zucchini spaghetti. Lots of best wishes to everyone for this coming week.
I'm guessing that means you've lost weight, but you haven't specified how much. I'm just trying to make things a little easier for Ruth when she comes to doing the stats
Well done for your healthy food choices and thanks for your good wishes
Hi All, Weight today is 18st 9.5lbs, ( a loss of just 1 lb) had hoped for more, but cheered myself up be realising they since I started the health kick, my resting heart rate has come down from 80 bpm to 66 bpm......
and my % body fat from 42.5% to 35%....
Still a long way to go, but its not all about the scales!
Take your measurements now health kick. I didn't do mine at the beginning, bar my waist, but still see a reduction in some of the figures. I ended up measuring 24 different parts of my body and when times get tough, I'm going to re-measure everything and see how many inches have disappeared
Hi, hope everyone is well...get well soon Prin's knee! Congrats or commiserations depending on which way things went for you this week folks.
This week I lost 2 3/4 pounds, so I can finally say I have lost over 1 1/2 stone. Next thing to aim for is to be able to say I lost 2 stone...here we go...
We're doing alright aren't we, yay for us! My chart on the wall in front of me shows me my target before Christmas and I'm not sure I will hit it on time, but if all goes well I should get pretty near to it and will be happy with that if it's within a pound or two of it. I'm already looking up calorie values for "naughty" treats and planning how I can accommodate them without going too far off track. Hubby brought a box of mince pies back from the shop yesterday, TWELVE, not six! Really?!!! I had planned to buy a box of six and incorporate one now and then as a treat throughout the next month, as these are 223 calories for one - ridiculous! I think half of them will be going to family, neighbours or the bin, I don't intend eating them all, that's for sure!
I'd dearly like to lose 2.75lbs this week and hit the 2st marker on my 12 week weigh-in, failing that, I'll definitely reach it by Christmas, which was my goal for Sueper's Christmas wish list
I haven't dared shop for Christmas goodies yet, as they've been my undoing in the past. I think I'll wait til the last minute and make sure I'm surrounded by people who will keep me on the straight and narrow
So I think this week I've lost 1km! I say I think because I've weighed myself a few different times this week and that's the average! Haha
If my scales haven't lied I am chuffed and it means I've lost 1stone in 5 weeks- just 2 more to go! Haha
Finding eating is a lot easier and whenever I go out I actually end up halving my portion to take away and having that the next day- so it's actually working out cheaper too
Yeah, I never remember being a healthy weight so I'm not sure what my goal weight is, I guess I will just see how it goes and stop when I think it's time to maintain?
Well my BMI would be 22 at 10st 3lb which is the middle of the healthy weight range. Like I said, I'll just keep going and stop when I think it's the right time
You two perhaps need to refer yourself to the community guidelines - the part where it says not to overly mother other members especially not while insulting them at the same time - I think I agree that 10st may be low for 5'8" though - although it depends on build. I'm slim at 5'4" and 10st2, but I have a fairly solid build. Scooba Steve may be svelte and balletic in comparison - all will be revealed soon enough I'm sure!
Evening, well done on your pound off. I've been writing everything down on MyFitnessPal and was over my limit (only by a bit) several days so need to sort that out. However, have lots .4 lb. Which I'm dead happy about as I'm usually a 2 lb off, 1lb on person, so actually lost after losing. Today hasn't gone well. Naughty program at work has lead to 3 cookies being consumed, and I'm off to a curry Christmas do tonight. BUT there's six more days after that and I'll be in a better state mentally with my program after a night's sleep and 2 roses. I'll be a good girl then
I started my weight loss journey on and off for a while but been dedicated for the last two weeks I then found this page last night at my heaviest I weighed 15s 12lbs today I weighed in at 13s 13 lbs
I still have a lot to go but it's progress in the right direction
It's great that you decided to join us. You've obviously been doing a grand job so far, but it's nice to share the ups and downs of our journeys with other people in the same boat
Fantastic that you've just broken into the 13's and really excited to see how you get on this week.
2lb lost this week. Really pleased. With Christmas do's on the horizon and sweets/cakes in the staffroom - I am going to have to be very strict with myself over the next few weeks.
I have been stuck for a bit but finally in the losing zone! I have managed to lose 1lb this weekend even though I went our for 2 meals! All carefully calories counted!
It's interesting what you say about clothes sizes and I have just found myself getting very annoyed that a size 24 sequin top I've just bought for xmas is miles too big lol! I've just ordered a size 20! I think the sizing is a bit big but I also bought 2 other size 22 tops to slim into and they both fit. So even though I've not lost much lately I do seem to have shrunk a bit more
I am now officially 3/4 lb lighter than my lightest weight since starting this journey
Hi super well done on this weeks loss and I am so pleased that top doesn't fit anymore! Great that you are celebrating your smaller sizes, and glad you are at an all time low 😀
I didn't think any of the supermarkets did clothes above a size 22, so I stopped looking. I must look into that again. We don't have a Sainsburys anywhere near us, but we do have an Asda. I know Tescos is rubbish.
For the sake of the stats, I'm going to add 2fatbyfar, as I've failed to explain well enough to her how to post on this thread. I've copied and pasted her own words that she put on another thread
first weigh in today. I only started yesterday, so today I weigh 70.5kg... lets see what i can do for next week Monday
I left her wandering around in cyberspace, so if anyone finds her, could they please lead her back to the fold
I've also assumed a female gender, so many apologies if my assumption is incorrect
Hurrah a warm welcome to you we post every monday and you can post at a time that suits you, we don't collect a fee, try and sell you bars shakes or tell you what colour day it is for food. It just helps keep us on track, we share ups and downs, tips and tricks😄
I'm down to 11.11.8 from 11.12.6 last week! Not quite a pound but still going in the right direction. I did see 11.11 earlier in the week but I think a later Sunday did a bit of damage.
Highlight of the week was being able to fit back into a number of old clothes as well as putting some away as too baggy!!!
Hello - LC - great that the downward trend is still on track . Its like joining up the dots - little by little all those weight losses add up - and hey presto like magic you can fit into clothes that don't fit and put away the saggy baggy clothes - hurray hurray!!
Start of week 2 weigh in 14st 6lbs so 1lb loss this week compared to 8lb last week I was knocked back for a while but have now been told "a loss is a loss" so I will take that and run with it! Need to up exercise this week...
A loss is a loss - take the advise and bank the loss. When we have big losses in the earlier days of weight loss it feels like a trend that can't be stopped. However i have painfully learnt that those initial heady days tail off into steady weight loss - which over time add up to bigger and sustainable weightless. I know it is frustrating- but hang in there - you have lost in a very short while ( i.e. over half a stone) what has taken me six months to lose
With a mindful approach to healthy eating the weightless will continue - next week you could be reporting 9 pound or more loss overall - that would be schmazing

Thank you!! Was feeln very determined earlier however just sat with a big big bag crisps and a burger before headn to my zumba class AGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello everyone I am new to the group, cannot exercise due to health, but trying to pick up info from everyone's different posts on what I should be eating and to motivate me. I am 11.13 and need to be at 10 stone. Well done with all your weight loss x
Hi Car66- welcome. Looking at everyones posts is a great start- we are all at different stages and have different challenges. Another place to look is the NHS choices website on healthy eating- which breaks down eating in healthy living and lifestyle rather than diet.
We are all somewhere in our journey - its the starting that counts- you will get plenty of support here.
Thank you all, not sure of the best way to go, I guess limiting my carbs and plenty of protein fruit and veg. With limiting carbs. So many different eating plans it gets confusing. I already have Asda economy plates as there smaller like plates once were 😊
Do you wish to join us here and would you feel comfortable disclosing your starting weight? It doesn't matter if you don't want to, you can just tell us what you've lost next week to add to our stats
Feel free to read the posts and add your own comments, I'm sure you'll find them really motivational.
Wishing you all good luck on your weight loss journey
Good luck Shogg - look forward to hearing about your first loss
Apologies for delay. I was away on Monday morning and forgot yesterday. Was away at a conference Sunday/Monday and ate a MASSIVE! (fantastic!) curry!
Last Monday I was 11 st 13 with a 1 lb loss; and I seem to be 11 st 12 this morning so I seem to have lost another pound. It is very up and down through the week (I cannot keep off the scales) and overall, it is going in the right direction. For all sorts of reasons, I haven't been doing any exercise though I got swimming again last night which I really enjoyed. It is hard to go when it's getting grey and wintery.
I had hoped to get to 11 (or at least very close) by end of December as going on holiday early January. Have slightly revised that to 11 and a half which would actually be equally awesome. I need to get going and get out through the week and I think then that at least should be achievable. It is difficult this time of year with sweets, cakes, mince pies etc etc...
I keep thinking, 'how long will I enjoy this?' (chocolate bar etc) and would much prefer to get a half stone off.
Hi all you lovely people, and hello fab 4 and to low cal whos away!!!

You're certainly sounding bright and breezy today Midnight-munchie
I can see your week's been all go, what with your anniversary and then the flu, congratulations and commiserations for those Your achievement of a 1lb loss is, therefore, all the more commendable and an average of 1.5lbs/week is exactly right
Fantastic that you're feeling happy and in control and that you've become the little mermaid
Hi Moreless thank you so much for replying hun , I have had a tiring week with this bug and lost my voice which was great for everyone at home but now my voice is back and I haven`t stopped talking!!

Ha ha, I can imagine it was a big relief to be able to talk again
You've really nailed the mind set, being able to enjoy a meal out without going nuts, then getting straight back onto the plan after is a huge achievement.
If you ever get the time, read the whole post, because it's hugely inspirational!
If you do laps at the pool, how about counting them and joining Lizzie's kicking the kilometres to dust thread? She's even posted a super motivational one to up the kilometre count to be able to get to the North Pole to see Santa. Here's the link
Yey go you 1.62 loss is fantastic moreless and so is the walking and cycling!

Thank you for taking time to reply Prin , so kind answering and giving us all a little boost, It s funny when you think of loss as a weight as it makes me realize just how much I dont want that extra on my body!
A maintain is better than a gain, so well done you. Hopefully you'll see a loss in 4 days time
