Hi, I am in the process of trying to lose 9 stone but it has taken me 9 weeks to lose 13lbs and for the last 3 weeks iv stayed the same and cant seem to get any lower no matter how good I am. I have been using the my fitness pal app and for my weight and to lose 2lb a week I need to eat 1,550 calories a day and i manage to be under every day but still not shifting. Iv also increased my pyschical activity which still isnt helping. I'm thinking of joining slimming world in hope that a different approach may help but does anyone have any other advise that may help? TIA

Sorry to hear you are struggling, it can be immensely frustrating to plateau, especially so early on in your journey.
Maybe try looking at the types of foods you are eating rather than just the amount of calories to see if that helps. I wrote a post a while back that might help you and offer a possible explanation - healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Good Luck.
Hi Ashlea, although everyone's different, if you're 9 stone overweight you would expect on 1550 calories to lose more than 13lb before you reach a plateau. It might be worth seeing your gp to get your thyroid levels checked x
Hi Ashlea. Like you I have a lot to lose but thankfully not reached a plateau yet.
I started out slow, making gradual changes and then making a few more as I progress. I am not yet counting calories but just roughly estimating them. One thing I do is have two roughly 1000 calorie days a week. Sort of my own version of the 5:2 diet. I find this really helps. I then have one day a week where I eat more like 2000 calories. I have been doing this for quite a while now and managing to lose on average 2lb a week. I also try to walk 5 days a week and upping my distance over the weekend.
Everyone is different and I think you need to find your own way. Try mixing things up a bit during the week and see how you get on.
Good luck, I am sure you will get past this plateau.

Hope that helps?
