Hi Webload and welcome.

I can't necessarily help explain why you would stop, although from my own experience I went through much the same and then my weight loss continued a couple of weeks later.

I do want to urge you to not give up, no matter how long you go whilst 'maintaining'. You're actually doing well by not putting on any new weight, so don't get stressed.

Other more experienced people here will no doubt respond to you including an introduction from one of the admins.

Deep breath and relax, you've done really well to get where you've got.

Thanks for your reply it was so soon after my post I wasn't expecting that in fact the site said I can't post until I've verified my email so thought it wouldn't show up so wrote another post. Any way thank you for you post it has really cheered me up just knowing some one is actually out there and I haven't wasted my time it was really reassuring what you said and I'll definitely keep going as you say deep breath and relax must calm down I have done well for a novice never thought about weight until I started with health problems and must admit it has done me good so far as I feel better within my self so once again thank you for your kind words

Hi Webload

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Well done in losing 1st 7lbs that is great going. You may have a plateau with your weight loss, have a look at week 11 on the NHS 12 week plan which talks about what to do when you stop losing.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Thank you for your reply I will look in to your advice and nhs 12 week plan never done anything like this, sadly always been a loner and worked alone but I'm so desperate to keep going this was a massive step for me to ask others for help and it's great to get a reply from two people in minutes that has already given me hope thank you so much

Hello Webload and welcome to the weight loss forum ☺

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This is particularly important in your case as I strongly suspect you are not eating enough which will hinder weight loss 😕

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Thank you Anna for the reply and I will be looking into all you say and hopefully I'll find out how to do the forums and weigh ins but all this technology baffles me more than the weight loss never done this sort of thing so total newbie never done twitter Facebook etc daughter nagged me for years to talk to others but never had the courage but really got low after two of my weekly weigh ins and lost nothing so desperate needs calls for desperate measures

Thank you so much for the advice

Hi webload welcome to the forum.

I'm no expert on diet and exercise but you've done incredibly well so far in losing weight, so congratulations on that.

I've read that as strenuous exercise builds up muscle it's possible to burn off fat at the same rate as you develop the muscle so it makes it look as though your weight is remaining the same. Also, you need to ensure you're eating enough protein in your diet, especially if you do strenuous exercise as protein burns calories a little bit faster.

You'll probably find that by changing your exercise regime to some other form of less strenuous exercise, your weight loss will become apparent again after a short time. Don't be too hard on yourself, sometimes our bodies need to rest and readjust.

Thanks for your reply and support I see I'm not alone in my weight lose problem thanks to all the answers like yours it does actually go a long way towards helping as I now know I'm not alone. Sadly due to certain problems with mobility I'm limited to exercise that is not impact oriented e.g. Running tennis etc but cycling rowing etc is fine so I must search out low impact alternatives and work hard at them and thanks again for your support
