NHS weight loss plan

Hi,

I'm looking to write an article for the NHS Choices website about people who have completed the NHS weight loss plan (nhs.uk/weightloss). It's a chance to promote the virtues of this free resource to a broader audience. If interested, please message me directly.

I lost 22 lb last year and have kept it off. However I am still 2 kilos over a just ok BMI. I have done c25k this year and am now madly taking part in a marathon on 2 August. Consequently, with the level of exercise I am doing I cannot contemplate food reduction until after it. I then plan to try to kick the last bit of weight - which is mainly round my belly.

However at 59 I am fitter than I have ever been in my adult life.

I don't mind helping. I was a size 10/12 about 3 years ago, but due to health problems have put on weight. Being unable to exercise properly doesn't help, and the medication I'm on adds to the problem. I first lost weight by joining WeightWatchers so know how I should eat, but I suppose I've been comfort eating. I refuse to join a club & pay out money for what I know, so joining this free will, I hope, give me the incentive I need to stop eating rubbish. We, including my husband, eat healthily but we do eat junk. Chocolate covered raisins are the worst. By helping you will actually help me as I'm more likely to try my best.

Hi Mad-Gran. Sounds like a plan! What week are you on?

Hi there

I haven't started yet as I'm new to the site but I really need your help to lose weight 😢

I'm struggling with severe depression anxiety and self-hate. Rapid weight gain has caused muscular pain in my lower back muscles and they are very very weak. Standing too long or walking around for a short space of time is very painful, so I'm restricted to the type of exercise I can do

Please help me 😢 😭

I am currently on week 9 and have lost 1stone 2 at my last weigh in and have lost 11cm of my waist, which I am more amazed at! I am more than happy to speak about my experience if you want. I've done slimming world and weight watchers before but didn't want to pay to be told things I already know so was very pleased to find the 12 week plan. This just feels more sustainable in the long run.

I'm having a hard time getting started, eating the wrong snacks like ice cream, sweets, how can you guys help me?

OK, firstly, stop buying the 'WRONG SNACKS'!! Then, you won't be tempted to eat them. That is gonna be the first step to success. Its not easy giving up the things you love, but in moderation, not all the time you can have the occasional treat, like at weekends, or choose a day in the week. Exercise is important. Burn those extra calories you eat by going for a brisk walk, or watching a YOU TUBE exercise video (there are loads) or just going to the gym if you have joined one and maybe get into a weights programme and also do some cardio.

Hope this helps.

good luck!!

I'm just about to embark on the plan. I've tried losing weight in the past but can't keep it off. So far I've managed to lose 10lb on my own but hoping to get support from the forum. I'm keen on helping others as this will help keep me focused on my goal and I'm also interested in the mental process of losing weight e.g. being in the right frame of mind, managing negative thoughts etc.
