NHS 12 Week Weight Loss Plan :-) - Weight Loss Support
NHS 12 Week Weight Loss Plan :-)
Hi, before you start, check out your calorie range at the NHS BMI calculator and set yourself a daily target towards the top of that range. The 1400 figure is a generic one that suits very few of us
Follow BridgeGirl’s advice re the number of calories you set yourself, and visit the forum daily to stay motivated. There are so many of us on here, me included, who had dieted for years and been unsuccessful, but I don’t think of the NHS plan and calorie counting as a diet, it’s a way of life. And although you will fall off the wagon now and then, we all do, I do still, it’s reassuring to know you can get back on it and everyone here will support you. So look forward to meeting you here in the future. 👍😊
I am the same way you are not alone!
I’m just focusing on eating healthier and putting my health ahead of weight loss. So far I am losing weight as a nice side effect!
Good luck
Hello all and Ruby Jane. I’m kick starting our need to improve our lifestyle and lose weight on Monday, tidying up the paper work and making our menu plan and shopping list today. So I will check with you tomorrow to make sure, you are on board. Good luck.

So, how did you get on during that 1st week? There’s a lot to read and many different ways to go. At the beginning, I found it a bit confusing. I think it’s worth trying different methods and seeing what works best for us individually. Good luck anyway, there will be highs and lows but just stick to it.
Hello anniedogwalker, My first week went well, I ate less than I should, but even with going out, I lost two kg. I went cycling twice, and booked swimming lessons. I’m still not au fait with the site, but working my way round. I don’t know how to keep messages, just within the group and not for the whole Internet, so restrict myself from chattering.
Do be careful to eat enough! If you look up : NHS BMI Calculator, enter your details and it will give you a range of daily calories, let’s assume it says 1400 to 1700, at theneginning of your diet, you should aim for the high side. As time goes on and you lose less, then you can cut down a bit further. The problem, if you go very low, is that your body goes into starvation mode and, instead of burning fat, it burns muscles. Not what you want! So do not starve yourself! Good luck!
Hello ruby Jane, how are you doing? I know you were concerned about starting hoping last week went well?
