Become your very own research scientist

In all my years with ms I continually hear that no two peoples ms is the same. I actually can attest to this as she who must be obeyed has not had an attack in years and years, (on Copaxone) she drives and most times can remember things. I on the other hand do not drive and my memory decides what it wants to remember. I am quite lazy like that and do not put in effort into remembering as well as I should. My fault I am sure, but I do like to blame ms. As much as anything I feel that changing yourself into a form of research scientist might be a good idea for “YOU” If no two peoples ms is alike, why would not becoming the expert on your particular ms not be a good idea? As we know from our studies the Central Nervous System (CNS) is rather large and that ms attacks random areas at random intervals, but it sometimes attacks the same areas again and again, thus disability. So why not study your very pwn ms intently

Know what makes “YOU” tick and what is going to stop “YOU” in your tracks. Perhaps if “YOU” take your disease Modifying Therapy (DMT) religiously like “YOU” should and “YOU” still have really bad side effects “YOU” might want to look into a different therapy. If “YOU” head outside on a sunny day to mow the ;awn, and last two minutes before falling over maybe “YOU” are not doing something the best way. I have balance issues so instead of riding a bike I started riding a tricycle. I found that after riding a while my eyesight started to become blurry. Not smart on busy roads so I sold my tricycle much to my regret, but I knew what was happening and weighed the benefits. I liked riding but getting run over I did not think would be fun. I know of a lady that lives in the next town that can ride a bicycle for miles and miles with no problems and she has ms as well. Each of us is a little different and my research has shown me my limits.

Believe me a lot of this came from trial and error over many years, mostly error, but I observed, wrote it down and modified my behaviour. I am not six foot and bulletproof anymore, like I ever was. No, I just do my best to continually observe me. As “YOU” might do yourself. Learn what “YOU” CAN and should not do. There is perhaps not much that “YOU” can not do but several things that “YOU” should not do. Have somebody else mow the yard for “YOU. No, this is your illness, your responsibility, your path to travel. Knowing all that “YOU” can about your abilities and the obstacles that “YOU MAY” face is s good idea. I believe it is the Boy Scouts who say always be prepared. Your learning and studying our condition helps “YOU” to be prepared. Start slow, little bits at first then as “YOU” become more comfortable dig deeper if “YOU” like. Remember “YOU” are your research scientist “YOU” only have to learn what “YOU” want to. Knowledge does help to reduce the fear on those dark lonely nights. Be smart and learn study and observe we all have a lot of years with this condition, why not make them as good as “YOU” can.

I really liked your post Royce. I definitely like your humor! I think I will do research on my own MS and see what I can figure out.
