Anyone else with MS have knee replacement surgery? I'm having trouble trying to decide what is MS and what is just recovery pain.

I have MS and had a total knee replacement in October 2016. The biggest problem I had was with muscle spasms after the surgery. Took my muscle relaxants and dealt with the issue. I came back to work after 1 month and I work full time. As with everyone who has the MonSter is will be different; but all in all it was not bad.

Hi, I had a knee replacement 8 years ago, one year before I was finally diagnosed with MS. I'd been battling 'whatever' it was (MS) for over 20 years, but told over and over it was "all in my head". Yes, guess it was LOL

I recovered very easily from the replacement and have had no problems these many years. My pain was handled with medications. After about 2-3 weeks, I was able to use minimal pain meds and while I always felt awful, recognize now it was MS.

In December, 2015 and again August 2016 I had major back surgery. First surgery was great and I recovered and was pain free for 3 great months.....then it started hurting again and got worse and worse. Turns out that every bone that touched a screw or bolt disintegrated. One neurologist thinks it was because of MS. The surgery was redone 1 month ago and I'm held together with glue! I'm in considerable pain, but can't tell if it's MS, or not being able to take my usual arthritis meds or surgery. Guess this is the same situation you're in. No one can tell me if this will hold.

To 'liven up' life, 2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with secondary progressive MS. I'm rapidly losing ability to walk more than a few hundred feet. Using a cane all the time and have just purchased a scooter. I do water aerobics, paid for by MS Society and can hardly wait to get back in the water in 2 weeks. KEEP MOVING, harder to hit a moving target.

Best wishes and 'keep moving'
