I had my knee replacement and it wasn’t so bad except the 2nd day when the pain medication was wearing off. I told my husband I was dying. I prayed to God to take me. Later I woke up, and almost forgot surgery until I moved my leg. I asked the nurses (male) where I was and what happened. They said I fell asleep. I realized I must have passed out or God took me from that pain. I know that I couldn’t have fall asleep.
But I was able to walk and stand some, bend my knee to 90 degrees. They took me to inpatient rehab which this one was too restrictive about movement. So after 5 days I came home in time to celebrate my birthday.
Recovery is going to be slow but I am concerned that my knee problem is rectified. I get tired from PT. In the inpatient place I didn’t rest. First day home slept like a baby. I just pray that my MS stays away. I some have MS symptoms, such as, muscle spasms and nerve pain. One day at a time.

It's H E double toothpicks getting old, but better than the alternative. Hang in there, it'll get better, ... if the remembered to put the xyz pin in before they closed you back in. If your lower leg falls off, you'll know, they forgot the pin again.! I'm kidding, but you've got to look at all this stuff like that, to stay sane!
I think the therapist at the inpatient facility were brutal. At least my last therapist admitted she never had to do rehab for a MS person before (and an old person).
I was quite frightened. But whatever happened, God pulled me through. I had to completely surrender to Him, because when that pain kicked in, I truly thought I was dying. One day at a time.
That is what they say. So far just having the ability to stand and walk slowly with both feet touching the ground. I was so thrilled that my ankles touch each other. I feel quite blessed. Quite a bit of swelling went away and my knee is healing nicely.
You’re amazing! I was told years ago that I need a knee replacement and I haven’t done it. I couldn’t imagine rehab with MS. I hope you’re feeling better very soon and the benefits will outweigh the pain.
Recovery is much harder than I thought it would be. They should had someone on their team who understands something about MS like a neurologist. Pain management hasn’t been going to great. I can’t wait until I see my pain management specialist. Their specialist blames everything on my MS and wouldn’t even talk to me. But my home PT says I am doing well. I can’t wait until the healing process is further along. They first 2-3 weeks is the worse. I have to agree. But must exercise. The littlest counts. MS is not stable through this stressful time. Praying no exacerbation.
I feel so stupid. I know people who have had knee and hip replacements and did pretty well. BUT, none of them has MS... I sure hope this whole thing doesn't trigger anything to flare. They may say 2-3 weeks, that is for the average person. I would add a week (or more) to that because you have MS. It sure messes things up!
