I can’t stop checking

You can't stop checking maybe because not to be absolutely sure of something is disturbing you. However, if you were looking at the big picture and getting used to a reasonable degree of uncertainty, the possibility of making a mistake may not be as disturbing, which would enable you to stop checking at a reasonable point.
Hello - If you are having trouble, have you tried talking with your doctor? If you have OCD there is help. You will likely need a diagnosis and I would ask to be referred to an therapist who specializes in OCD. The doctor can likely help with medication as well.
I know it can be hard, but you are not alone in this and OCD is very treatable. All you need to do is reach out
I know it can be very difficult not to check. But it’s shown so many times that’s once we get over the initial uncomfortableness with not checking once, the anxiety subsides over time. And from there we can start to build a stronger and stronger foundation to not check.
Again, I know way easier said than done. I too am going to louder ocd right now. But and little victory can help build that base and confidence. Start small. Maybe resist checking for a set time like 5minutes. Then maybe 10minutes. Eventually the goal should be not to check at all and the anxiety should decrease. This will teach the brain that there is no apparent threat to the thought we are having. Eventually it will get bored and let go of the thought all together. And then the next time it comes in it makes it easier to not panic because the mind has rewired itself to not treat the thought as real danger.
