Kind of a big deal

That sounds just like OCD- that sneaky little booger. OCD will try and make you feel like what it says is really urgent and important and that you must stop and pay attention to it. Try not to be tricked.

It reminds me of a phone call several years ago from a scammer who claimed that some malware was interfering with the functioning of my computer. He told me to immediately go to the computer and give him remote access so he could prevent a horrible harm from happening. I could hear little kids in the background and what sounded like the dinner table being cleared.

OCD is a scammer claiming that an awful harm will occur if we don’t do it’s bidding. It demands we do it immediately. I’ve called your bluff OCD and the awful thing didn’t happen. Even if it did happen, and there’s a teeny tiny possibility it could have, I will find a way to cope with it. Take that OCD!
