OCD triggering impending DOOM!

Why does OCD try and make you think that impending doom is going to happen if you don’t abide by the rituals? The negative thoughts have been going nuclear lately. SAMSON

I don’t know but lately I check things that I just checked and are obviously ok but the compulsion is strong. Impending doom is upon me more than not.

That is OCD for you....it loves to make you miserable and make you believe things that are NOT true. Feelings are not facts. This is something that I have had to learn,

As I type this, I just had to scroll four times back up to your post, because I needed to see how long ago you posted this, otherwise absolute doom was coming my way. My OCD is triggered very easily, and the past couple of weeks have been very rough. The thing that bothers me now is that I most likely have to endure this anxiety thanks to my OCD during Christmas, but I’m hoping it subsides before then, so I can genuinely enjoy the day with my family. One tip I can give that sometimes helps me is singing while I’m performing actions that I know will trigger my OCD. Hope this helps.

Hi sh0526. I can relate to you, BC my OCD is easily triggered too. I can be doing anything, and I get intrusive thoughts. For some reason, mine have gotten more frequent, too, over the last week and a half or so.

Holidays also, bring up my anxiety level. Getting together w/ ppl in general, make my OCD worse. It's really bad to begin with, but knowing I'll HAVE to be around ppl, even family, is stressful.

But, I hope all of us will have a nice holiday, without a lot of problems caused by our OCD or whatever we are dealing with.
