Any meds that have helped pure-obsessional OCD?

Hi friends--I have pure-obsessional OCD, but also depression, anxiety, and complex PTSD. I've been on all (and high-dose) SSRIs except Luvox over the past 25 years and tried augmenting meds (Abilify, memantine, Risperdal, Lamictal, Geodon, Zyprexa). I also have tried Clomipramine, ketamine and, deep transcranial magnetic stimulation.

These meds have barely touched my OCD and they all come with side effects to varying degrees.

Has anyone found that they just don't get relief from conventional treatments? Has anything helped to quiet your mind while allowing you to still function? Thanks.

I’m sorry to hear that based on my experience I also took abilify it made my heart racing and I have tried so many medications, I have finally found the right one Luvox, no side effects at all . I am taking 150 mg.

Thanks to the OCD community I was advised for many of the members here to look professionals or residential programs that specialized in OCD, I have learned that not everybody knows what is a severe OCD and how to treat it. For this reason I started looking under the International OCD foundation website there are professionals and programs dedicated to OCD, I just started another program and I have faith this will work, the residential program will take from 60 to 90 days in Wisconsin.

There are incredible people in this community and I have received so many advises that I’m so happy to be part of that we are not alone have faith

I think probably Klonopin

But it may require that you take sleep meds the rest of your life. Tranquility Lab in Salt Lake City Utah. Try first the companies that mfgr herbal products.

Thank you. Yes indeed. I had a particularly traumatic family situation that probably shaped my neurochemistry.

I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling in these ways. They sound very similar to what I've dealt with over many years. I'm currently taking duolextine (Cymbalta) at 60 mg, and just started Propanalol at 60 mg timed release. I had been taking 20 mg of Propanalol before now. I will not say that this cocktail prevents my OCD, anxiety, or depression. But I think it is part of my treatment, which includes therapy and daily exposure-response prevention. Good luck and feel free to ask about any of my experiences.

I was diagnosed with OCD at the beginning of the year. I’ve been prescribed many SSRIs over the years for social anxiety, PTSD, and depression but never took any of them long term due to various side effects. This time around, my doctor prescribed Luvox. 100% total game changer for me. Plus, the only side effect I had was sleepiness, which was easily fixed by taking an XR once at bedtime.
