Lexapro 30mg to Effexor?

Hi everyone. My doctor is recommending switching from Lexapro 30mg to Effexor.

Does anyone have experience switching over to Effexor? She told me I could just stop the lexapro and start taking the Effexor. Or that I could cut the lexapro in half for a few days and add the Effexor to that.

I was under the impression that things had to be done on a slow tapper?
