Last night I got the chance to be a part of an ocd research project (my therapist is getting her PhD). I got to meet other people with ocd for the first time!! It was so wonderful to do an art project and talk about ocd. I have never been able to really share what goes on in my head until last night and have everyone totally understand!!!! We want to continue to see each other. Just wanted to say if you have a support group in your area go to it!!! Or if not, maybe start one???
Have a good day everyone 💝

I've been going to a support group as well for about a year, and it has been a great experience. I find that participating here is even better though. At the support group I am reluctant to share exactly what my obsessions/compulsions are because I am afraid that people won't understand. Here I know that no one knows who I am, so it is even more freeing. I don't have to feel self-conscious as I share or worry about what others are going to think. I'm also reluctant to share at the support group because I'm afraid that people are going to say that what I'm dealing with isn't OCD, since I don't have obvious physical compulsions. Personally knowing that I am struggling with OCD has given a name and identity to my difficulties that makes it seem not crazy.
OCD is really naughty for making you feel silly about the thoughts and Intrusions!! If anyone is going to understand and have empathy, it's going to be someone with OCD.
I can't believe what I've shared on here, even stuff I haven't shared with therapist!!! I find it comfortable to share with like minded people.
