Be careful with travel insurance that is offered free or at a reduced rate by banks, credit cards etc, its fine if you have never visited your doctor and never had anything wrong in your life. You still have to inform your insurance company of pre-existing conditions, tests you are undergoing etc etc. Insurers will use any loop hole to get out of a claim so be aware of that and remember it won't be worth the paper its written on if you don't. There are insurance companies willing to cover you for a little extra, its worth shopping around. Previous posts on travel insurance highlight these companies.
ok cheers
Hi Pedders, not had any experience of this card from Sainsbury's, as long as you declare you have PV you should be ok, it does sound like a good deal. We have a list of insurance companies that people have used successfully for travel insurance on our website mpdvoice.org.uk/living-with... you could have a look at some of them if Sainsbury's won't cover MPDs. I get free insurance with my bank account, when diagnosed with ET I informed them and had to pay an additional £14 for the year.
Santander premium account.
Ok cheers ill look into that.
We had insurance with our bank Halifax before my husband was diagnosed with ET. When we informed them of this diagnosis they wouldnt cover him. We were going to New York and managed to get insurance thro direct line but had to pay £150 extra which was not bad as some companies were charging over £400!! You should definitely shop around.
Travel Insurance.co.uk I got very good deal for whole year worldwide cover for £88.00. I have disclosed that I have ET and they excepted it.
that sounds good thanks
Royal bank of Scotland and Halifax will both cover you if you have certain accounts
OK thanks
Hi Pedders I traveled with Mondial insurance for 130 pounds due to my ET I.They are most interested if high risk things have happened to you in the last 3/6months this is very good others with cancer pay thousands, the lack of knowledge about our condition is for once to our advantage.I have had a blood clot to the brain but as it was three years ago it was not a prob.Good luckPs
Thanks ill have a look at that
