Does Besremi cause problems with teeth and hair loss

Ive been on Pegasys for over a year but have switched to Besremi in December. I feel like my hair has got a lot thinner and a bit of one of my front teeth has just fallen off (whilst eating but the food was soft)

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

This thread has a report on both Rux and IFN relating to dental complications.

healthunlocked.com/mpnvoice...

IFN was most connected to gingival abscess and tooth loss while Rux was cracks. So your experience matches the cracking part if it was just a piece of tooth. That was more a Rux thing in the report but still could be a related dental complication.

A specific note :"In our study, up to 30% of the patients treated with Peg‐Ifn have needed oral care, particularly gingival abscesses (P = .004, OR = 3.54). This may be explained by the decrease in circulating neutrophils often observed in Peg‐Ifn‐treated patients"

-How is your neutrophil level?

I noticed more hair loss on IFN while on Rux it has held or improved. Rux has indications related to hair loss, but of course that should not drive our MPN choices.

Hi ScarlettI was on Peg for about 15 months and noticed lots of hair coming out, when I mentioned it to Guys It was suggested I take a biotin supplement, which I have been taking for well over a year I cannot say I have noticed any help it gives, I also swopped at same time to viviscal shampoo and conditioner from H&B and again I cannot say I see any improvement, In December 2024 I also switched to Besremi and I feel the hair thinning has picked up a notch, I do wonder how long this can go on for keep loosing so much hair, whilst I don't have bald patches my hair is getting very thin, it's very broken and I constantly have hair breakage or hair coming out, luckily I had thick hair, but not so much any more.

I have experienced hair thinning too. I was losing a lot of hair but I didn't notice the thinning until after a few months. It seemed that to me that all of a sudden the hair had stopped being replaced, if that makes sense. I had medium length hair but hair clips, bands etc would just slip out or slide off. I made the decision to have it cut into a short bob. Like you I don't have any bald patches just a lot less hair. My teeth do feel like the tops/edges, particularly of my bottom teeth are rough, like they are chipping. I do also suffer with sensitive teeth 😬😩

Yes, Im finding hair elastics are falling out too. I was thinking of having my hair cut short but I m really not sure. Tooth was fixed quickly at the dentists.

Yes, Besremi caused hair loss and bleeding gums. It stopped when they reduced my dosage. Also started Biotin which did help grown new hair after several months of supplement
