Pegasys and Hair Loss

Can anything be done to prevent hair loss with Pegasys? I’ve been on weekly 90mcg injections since the beginning of November and I’ve really noticed the hair loss picking up. I’d say I’ve lost 1/3 of my hair thickness. My hair is curly and shoulder length so most people don’t notice it, but I do! Will it continue? Can it be prevented? Thanks a lot!!

Hi Mary, the same thing happened to me. I saw a dermatologist who advised me to use minoxidil, a topical treatment. My hair is growing back so I assume it is because of that.

Hi, I also had hair loss after Hydrea. My doctor recommended Biotin. I took it for 3 months and I think it helped or my body just got used to the medication, it’s hard to know

I've used Silica supplements for hair and nails for years. When diagnosed with ET I asked my cardiologist if it was ok to continue with them which he confirmed it was, as some supplements taken over a long period of time can narrow your arteries. Sugar Bear hair supplements are also supposed to be very good. HU had the opposite affect on my hair, going from thin wispy hair to a long thick mane! Albeit, my hair is very frizzy and dry but nothing a good serum doesn't take care of.
