I have seen one recommendation to space the flu and COVID immunizations out by 2 weeks. I am planning to do so. Last year I did the flu and pneumonia vaccines at the same time and reacted rather poorly. Unusual for me with flu vaccines. I know that others are planning to double up on COVID/Flu. It really is just a judgement call.

It may have been the pneumonia jab that was respnsible for that...I had it alone, and had a temp of 38.7C for 4 days...and a very hot, red and swollen arm which took 4 weeks to completely disappear x

I expect it as the addition of the pneumonia vaccine. it actually made both arms hurt too. Very odd since I have never reacted to a flu vaccine. Oh well - lesson learned. no more doubling up on vaccines.

I plan to try to get the Moderna. It's a higher dose than Pfizer at 50 vs 30 mcg. Downside is risk of any side effects is also larger since it is a larger dose, but I'll take that trade off.

I agree with Hunter to separate the flu and covid by enough time in case there are any side effects; one can know which shot caused it this way.

Hi EP guy soooo helpful I will plan my next vaccination for Tuesday instead. Thanks again

Oh wow,

really, ok at this point have no way of knowing which way to go,so whats new. Anyway l will think it through carefully.

Thanks Hunter

Had the new Moderna jab Friday and have booked the flu jab in a couple of weeks time. No bad side effects but arm was very sore next day so glad I didn’t have them at the same time as the flu jab usually gives me a sore arm as well.

be interesting to see if you get to choose. Please let us know which you have. I did read irs advised for people with Mpns to space the jabs two weeks apart from the flu one.

Generally you don't have a choice unless severely allergic. Spikevax bivalent (moderna II if you like) is being used as the autumn booster currently as it offers the best possible protection.

I am having them both together!!! Is that wrong??

I think you should spread them out by 2 weeks

Hi, I had flu and Covid ( Moderna) vaccines yesterday, both arms bit sore but otherwise fine.

The main reason I feel to separate them is to know which caused any side effects. But the authorities do encourage us to get them together.

I have just had both Vaccines yesterday for Flu and Covid - they were using the new Bivalent booster.

I spoke with the nurse about having them both together as I know it can make you ill - and today I am feeling the side effects of having them both together (fever / headache / aching) but the nurse did say they piggy back off each other that’s why they wants to do them together and that she had been fine with having them both - maybe she wasn’t immune compromised like myself.

Normally the flu vaccine doesn’t really effect me so it must be because I have had them together.

must admit I'm rather dubious about having both covid and flu together. My first 2 doses for covid were Astra Zeneca. Had sore arm and a bit shivery that day. Next one was Pfizer- sore arm. Next was Modurna- that gave me sore arm, but the worst shivers, aches and generally feeling unwell over about 4 days. Flu, generally gives me sore arm and a bit off colour. My concern is both could knock the hell out of me and I can't rest up as I'm a full time carer for my wife. Have to think this one through and see what the options are, before deciding.

interesting moderna gave me wort side effects ever. Just as you stated my jabs followed a similar path.

Hi Janet lm wondering the same thing. I had my flu jab on Saturday and was going to our walk in clinic for CV jab this Tuesday.

Anyway I raised this question here and got some various and interesting feedback. So now lve decided to wait another week and have it after my weekend break instead.

Have a think about it there is always good feedback on this site.

hi I had Moderna. Apparently 1 in 10,000 people got a covid like reaction.

I was that one!!!

Oh Wyebird there's always one sorry it was you love.

Going for my 6th vaccine today so not sure how long I should wait then for my flu shot? I'll ask when I'm there. Good luck.

Last week I had the flu vaccine and bivalent COVID booster at the same time, one in each arm. I had a slight fever, tiredness, brain fog, and sore arms the next day. I had a similar reaction with a previous single COVID shot, however.

I had my 6th Covid jab last Thursday. ( ET -JAK2) Just booked online. No notification from the GP. Moderna, no choice. Booked Flu jab for end of October. Same reaction to Covid jab as previously; localised tenderness , painful if I raised arm above shoulder height. Same reaction as pregnant Daughter in law, and my son who blagged Covid jab on basis of pregnant wife in household and mother with blood cancer who provides some child care !! They had theirs on Saturday.
