Advise on timing of covid jab and Pegasys injection

I’m due my second AZ vaccine next week, and whilst I have no doubts about going ahead with it, my weekly Pegasys jab falls the next day. I wondered if there is any advise as to whether I should continue with my Pegasys jab the next day or delay it a few days. I saw some comments on another site(mainly not in the uk ) that people have been told to delay it a few days after covid vacation but have not seen this advice given on this site. My Peg jab fell a few days after my first appointment, and all was fine, but my second AZ jab is booked for the day before my peg jab. Any thoughts please.

I’ve had my Pfizer jabs 12 hours before and after my weekly 135mcg Pegasys injection. No problem except some high fever for 24 hours.

Hello swimswam,My second AstraZenica vaccination will be administered this Saturday morning , my Pegasys injection is due Friday night, so roughly 12 hours apart. I will move my Pegasys injection to Thursday night ( tonight ) just to give a little more space between the two injections. I did the same thing for my first AstraZenica vaccination. I have no idea whether this is advisable or not, my Haematologist was fine with this, retrospectively. I guess my thinking (and I can overdo this ) was they can both make me feel tired ; so avoiding a double whammy, by having at least 24 hours between them.

Someone else may be able to give you advice that has a medical foundation.

Good luck with it and always stay safe.

Hi Swimswam,I would suggest going with what your doctor thinks is best, I have had both doses of the AZ and did not change my Pegasys routine for either dose and all was good for me.

Hi swimswam,

My consultant advised that I leave 24-48 hours between vaccine & pegasys.

Reason she gave is to avoid feeling doubly rubbish if experiencing side effects from both at the same time. Also on the (very unlikely) chance of having side effects from vaccine requiring medical attention, it would be clear pegasys isn’t the culprit.

Good luck with your jab! Exciting times 💚
