Shingrix jab for shingles

Afternoon my friends,

Just a quick question of you all, has anyone on here had the new Shingrix jab,

I had my first does last Friday, all seemed fine until Sunday when I started to have chills, turns out that I now have some kind of bladder infection this was found through having to go too Haematology under Alert card where they did my bloods and a urine test and put me on the antibiotic Trimethoprim for it, my question is has anyone else over a certain age 🤪 had this jab and had any adverse side effects, also my blood pressure has gone sky high when it’s normally in the normal range as I am on an Ace inhibitor, on another note the leaflet for Shringrix states that anyone on certain prescription drugs one being Hydroxyurea must consult with their Doctor before having as it can cause problems or interactions, but it was just a nurse that did it and did not look at my notes??? Well not that you can get to see a doctor these days anyway, not even at the hospital have to rely on a nurse, which is all well and good and they are lovely, turns out most of our Haematologists have been brought out of retirement, not that you see them, no Senior ones at all, as the main ones have gone to Kings College in London , really worrying to say the least.

Not sure about having the second dose, have not felt this unwell for a long time. not even with the Covid jabs.

So Peeps, let me know if anyone thats had the jab has experienced any side effect, need to get to the bottom of this.

Jean x

Hi Superwoman

Yes I had both my Shingles jabs and felt definitely “under the weather” afterwards -pretty much as I did after the covid vaccs especially after the second shingles jab. Fortunately, it was just for a couple of days. I have no cause to get my blood pressure checked so have no idea if this was affected.

Hope you’re feeling better now.

Sorry you are so unwell. I had both Shingrix jabs and other than a sore arm had no side effects. I have ET and take 500mg hydroxy daily along with clopidogrel. I am 72. I also had my flu jab on the same day as the 1st shingix jab. Hope you soon feel better.

Hi. Sorry to hear this! I had Shingrix with no problem but maybe you’re sensitive to something in the shot. You didn’t have any other vaccinations recently that might have interacted? Katie

I had a day of flu-like symptoms - aches, pains, some chills after getting the first Shingrix jab.

I have PV and take hydroxy. My haem suggested the Shingrix jab which I had on Wednesday this week I was fine until Thurs evening when I experiences significant aches and fatigue and a mild temperature (which had gone this morning). I took a covid test, not problem there. I am feeling a lot better today, but not there yet!

I had this jab while taking HU at 500-1000/day. Dr said to get it on Fridays so I could recover over the weekend. It hurt plenty going in and I did have a couple droopy days afterward. 2nd shot a bit more, and both much more effects than the Covid Pfizer vax.

I've read its adjuvant (stuff that make it work better) is part of the stronger side effects.

Hi Superwoman. I take Hydrea. It was my MD that told me to get the Shingrix shots so was well aware of my meds and potential drug interactions. I’ve had the first one. The only issue was severe pain at injection site. Lasted for a day. As a side note I’m in the US. It seems like PA’s (physicians assistants) are taking over the roles of specialists. There’s a real MD shortage going on here. My best, Karlee

Yes when I had the jab, it really hurt suppose its because its going into the muscle, only other time I had pain like that was when I had a steroid injection into my knee. Coped with all the covid jabs no problem. We also have a shortish of GP (general practitioners) all are either part time or retired, seems to be a general thing in the UK.
