I have ET JAK2 and am on alternate days of 500/1000mg Hydroxyurea. I was feeling weird the other day and decided to take my temperature as I had been running a low fever after getting the second Pfizer vaccination. I was shocked to find the temperature at 95.5, I took it again and it was 96. I tested the thermometer for accuracy and it was taking the temperature correctly. Later in the day it rose to 97, which is at least within spitting distance of my normal.
Has anyone else had low temperature, either after the pfizer vaccine, or from ET or from HU? Or any other reason why it would have dropped so much. I live in Southern California and it was the middle of a 80F (26C) degree day - pretty sure cold weather was not the trigger.

hi Nightshadow, I hope you are feeling better now. Were you given an information leaflet after you received your Pfizer vaccination, if you did this will list all the possible side effects that people may experience, and will also have advice on what you should do if you get any of those that are listed, or how to report any effects not listed. It might also be a good idea to speak to your doctor about how you felt and your low temperature. Best wishes, Maz
Thanks, I don't see a temperature drop listed, so I thought it might be an interaction with HU. Talked to my doctor, but she didn't know of any correlation. So it may be just one of those things.
I just had my covid vaccination today..Astra Zeneca as I am over 60 and in Australia ( thats all they will give us!!). Almost immediately after getting the shot ( within 10 minutes) I got very hot and sweaty and very faint. As I was still at the doctors I was taken to a room to lie down. I was alternately hot and cold, then felt nauseous briefly. My Blood pressure had dropped to 104/70 ( normally 130/70, my body temp down to 35C (95F)but oxygen levels normal. After an hour, my BP crept back up to 117/70 and Temp up to 36C (96.8F)..just before leaving BP was up to 119/70 and temp back to normal of 36.5C (97.7F). I felt much better so they let me go home. I went straight to bed with an electric blanket on high and dozed off, fully clothed ( I took my boots off haha). When I woke up 2 hours later I was still cold, the electric blanket was still on high, so I could feel the warmth but still felt cold. I am still tired but a little bit better 6 hours later. It was a very warm day here. So that's what happened to me! I will see what tomorrow brings. I hope you have managed to sort out what caused your low BT and are feeling better now.
Yes, the temperature drop seems to be an unusual side effect. After such a fast reaction I am glad you were still at the doctors that they could keep an eye on you. Fortunately it was just the one day of peculiarity for me.
Glad to hear you have come right. My doctor said the vaccine was affecting me quicker than others and the nurse said she had similar but it was hours after the needle and they had never had anyone have my quick reaction ( its a very busy family medical centre with a very high vaccination rate) So far I haven't had any of the other things like headache and its been 2 days now. Nice to compare notes with you! Must be nice to be double vaccinated...I won't be until 2 Dec, but still in time for Christmas 😃
