Hello friends l have ET and take warfrin and 500 milagrames of hydroxy daily, and had my 4th pfizer jab 3 weeks ago. Right now feel not so good and struggling with muscle cramps in my legs, feet and behind right ear most painful and worrying can anyone offer advice or experience. Thank you.
Adiewon2, hydroxy causes magnesium loss as does stress and may be leading to cramps. However, magnesium does bind with wafarin and can deminish it's absorption and activity although magnesium does prevent platelets from sticking together. Ask your doctor if you can supplement with magnesium or soak in Epsom salts.
I am on 500grms a day of hydroxycarbamide and they upped my weekend dose to 1000 grms 3month ago for the 1st 2weeks I was ok then for 6weeks after I suffered terrible consistant cramp in my leg s and feet pain in my knee ,couldnt straighten my leg ,then it just disappeared all is great now I had put on a lot of weight ,joined slimming world and losing the lbs steadily and feel really good hematologist said it takes time for the body to adjust to hydroxycarbamide hope this helps I have been drinking isotonic drink once a day this may have helped
Whenever the subject of cramps comes up on forums some apparently bizarre ‘cures’ seem to regularly pop up. In absolute agony from cramp not long ago I resorted to swallowing a tablespoon of pickle juice and the cramp had completely gone within minutes. I realised that I take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar every day for urinary tract infections and I had run out and missed a few days. Once back taking it regularly I have not had cramp again. I take Natural Umber cider vinegar as it is the best tasting one I have tried so far. I mix it in a glass of water. (I have absolutely no connection with the company and receive no benefit from promoting the brand) Might be worth a try as I don’t think it interferes with other medication.
I used to have bad cramps before I was diagnosed and put on medication. I used "Theraworx relief" by avidem technologies. I don't know if it would be available in the UK but it is a foam whose active ingredient is Magnesium Sulfate, you may be able to find something similar if it isn't available in the UK. I found it worked surprisingly well, though I have no idea why externally applied magnesium would make a difference.
