Hi all,

I’m having a problem with my hands, they get very cold and painful in cold stores, cars, etc. with air conditioning on. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have PV and am on 500 mg of Hydroxyurea plus low dose aspirin and also warfarin. Thanks for any responses.

Yes definitely. It can be classified as Raynaud's Syndrome. My body could be sweating but finger's turn white & numb when exposed to draughts, slight drop in temperature & even walking in shaded area's. When trying to warm them up & get the circulation back they turn the most vivid blue & purple, bit scary but quite artistic lol

Sounds like Raynauds syndrome to me, it can be primary or secondary so talk with your GP. I don't have a MPN (hubby does) but I have Raynauds & it can be very painful. I always carry gloves, all year round. I'm the one doing the shopping in the middle of summer with my gloves on. I also have rechargeable hand warmers in my bag. I just assumed I had cold hands, feet & nose, never realised it was a thing until I injured my fingers at the start of the year & the nurse showed concern for my very cold hands & then GP did the same a few months later. Definitely be proactive in purchasing gloves etc... to stop your hands getting cold in the first place as this will reduce the attacks & combat some of the pain.

Thanks for the replies! I talked to my PC and my oncologist and they both said it wasn’t raynauds because my fingers don’t turn white, just cold and very painful. They checked me for cold agglutinin but blood work came back neg. on that. Fee13 sounds like mine except for the color changes lol. Chaz1 I too carry the gloves all year and in the house also. Thanks again for the replies!! Ann16

Just dropping in to say, "Me too" and also add feet/toes to that list. I can actually sit with a hot water bottle on my toes and they STILL feel cold. Marvellous!

My fingers get cold and turn purple. I keep a heating pad close by and always have gloves handy.
