I have received very good information from people off here but am still worried about secondary thrombocytosis which could be related to cancer . I dont see the haematologist for 3 months so the info on here has helped.

Having to wait three months to see a hematologist is appalling. I hope you have checked to see that this doc actually has expertise with MPNs. Many docs, even hemo-docs, do not really know much about MPNs. It would be terrible if you had to wait that long only to see a doc who really cannot provide you with the level of care you deserve. Here is a list of patient-recommended docs with MPN expertise mpnforum.com/list-hem/ . I found it was worth travelling and even paying more out-of-pocket to see a doc with the right expertise. There are reasons you could be experiencing thrombocytosis other than Essential Thrombocythemia. That will be part of the diagnostic assessment. Reactive thrombocytosis at a certain level can be he body's natural response to illness or injury. I hope you get your answers sooner than three months.

I was told I had essential thrombocytosis. ( same as thromboycemia)

Which means you have an infection in your body somewhere. Hence lots of tests to find it. ( high platelets due to infection is secondary thromboycemia). It worked out I had the mutated gene . Which means I had primary ET.

Hope this helps.
