Hi had call from hospital o my latest blood test done on November 10th ! I was asked if I had a recent infection ? Not that I know of , however I did have 2 weeks of Covid bad in the 6 weeks before my blood test , ! But I’m guessing it wouldn’t be the Covid I had bad bout I’m to repeat blood tests soon as I get the blood form in post ! I’m so upset because my platelets risen to 528 I had been stress with home life also which , I’m told can do this rise in bloods all sorts of reasons

stress and Covid, quite a lot going on, Covid can linger a bit too, I wouldn’t panic, give it another couple of tests say a month apart, always follow the trend not the one test, 528 is just over range but still good.

Hopefully if the stress is less things should settle down as I am sure stress increases our figures

It sounds like a clear case of reactive thrombocytosis. I would not be particularly concerned given that the levels are only at 528. That is still below the target value of 600 that some MPN Specialists use for ET. It is important to note that there is not a linear increase in risk of thrombosis with this kind of platelet elevation.

my platelets remain at 800 and my doctors isn’t concerned as long as I’m feeling well. I’m on Jakafi 20 mg day

I'm not sure if it helps or not but my platelets are in the 700s and my dr. has said no cause for concern unless they get over a million. Then there would be concern for bleeding. I'm not sure what your platelet number was before this recent test, but they can jump around 100 pts at a time sometimes based on so many factors. Hopefully your next set of labs will show them back in range.

don’t worry about it. Covid does make them rise mine went up . However I have learned now that all sorts causes inflammation & platelets rise. I got bitten badly by mosquitoes on holiday & that caused it too.

It drops down again . I spent 2 years on rollercoaster readings then lovely & settled on Interferon. Then get told it’s now in short supply 🙈. You will be fine 👌👍

380 to 420 is nothing . It can rise much higher with Covid as mine did so please do not be over anxious 👌

they are now 528 ! No reason why . I need to repeat bloods to see if they go lower ! I’m usually around 420 it’s upsetting me I don’t know and is it something to do with my diet or is this cancer getting worse

Over the years, I have found severe stress to raise my platelets and other cell lines. Also, any food that had hydrogenated oils in ingredients can really raise platelets fast.
